In Ohio alone, there are more than 16,000 children in foster care and only 7,300 licensed foster families.

After speaking with her sister, a foster parent, Tonya also decided to welcome foster children into her home.

Tonya and her biological children always ensure their home is safe and welcoming for their foster sibling(s).

Although it can be hard to see her foster children return to their families, Tonya can also help other children.

"There are going to be challenges, but you have to be the one to say, 'Okay, I'm going to take all the challenges, and this is what we're going to do,'" Tonya said.
