A handmade card can become someone’s favorite part of bedtime. 💌

After receiving her Postmarked with Love cards, Aélya’s family shared:

“We hung a string with lights in her bedroom with all the cards 😊 Every night she picks one card to read again. So a big thank you for this gesture and to make our daughter smile and not feel alone!”

Want to help create moments like this? Gather your friends, family or co-workers for a card-making party! Bring out the markers, share some snacks and make cards that help people in the FA community feel connected and cared for.

💙 The next card deadline is Dec. 3! No artistic skills needed, just a kind message and a little creativity.

How can we prevent cancer in people with Fanconi anemia? Find it earlier? Develop safer treatments?

At the 2026 FA Scientific Symposium, researchers shared progress toward answering these questions, alongside work focused on bone marrow failure, gene therapy and stronger collaboration across the field.

Some approaches are entering clinical studies. Others are helping researchers identify which ideas show enough promise to keep moving forward.

Just as important, people with FA, caregivers and bereaved families shared their experiences through the EL-PFDD meeting, helping connect research priorities with the realities of living with FA.

Before there was a worldwide FA community, Lynn Frohnmayer was reaching out to families by mail, calling researchers and searching for answers for her children.

More than four decades later, that care and persistence continue to shape our community.

On Oct. 2, we honored Lynn with FCF’s Lifetime Achievement Award, surrounded by people whose lives and work she has touched.

Thank you, Lynn, for bringing us together and keeping families at the heart of it all. 💚

Sometimes, (in fact, often!) a path into FA research begins with a personal connection.

This summer, Ryan Brownsweiger joined an NIH research group after being inspired to apply by his college roommate, who is living with FA. Ryan recently presented his work at the NIH Summer Student Poster Day, alongside members of the research team.

We’re grateful to Ryan for bringing his curiosity to FA research, and to his roommate for inspiring him to get involved. 💪🧬

Please join us in welcoming Dr. Eunike Velleuer-Carlberg to FCF’s Scientific Advisory Board! 💙

The board voted unanimously to welcome Eunike, a longtime clinician-scientist whose work brings together research, clinical care and a deep commitment to people with Fanconi anemia.

Eunike has met and examined more than 1,000 people with FA and followed many over the course of years. She helped develop less invasive approaches to oral cancer screening, co-led the FA Cancer Awareness Team and moderates the European FA Virtual Tumor Advisory Board.

“Each person has taught me something I could never have learned from the literature alone,” she says.

We’re grateful to have Eunike’s experience, compassion and perspective guiding FCF’s work to prevent cancer, find it earlier and improve care.
