Teen drivers play a key role in keeping the streets around our schools safe. Adults, let's honor teen driving safety week by talking to teens about how to protect themselves and their friends from avoidable mistakes. Visit Lane Council of Governments' driver's ed page at www.lcog-or.gov/transportation/page/teen-driver-education-lane-county and set the rules before they take the keys.

Are you passionate about active transportation? Play a role in making Eugene more friendly for active modes of travel by being on the Active Transportation Committee!

Join the Active Transportation Committee! Applications due Tuesday, October 27th at 5pm. Apply online at eugene-or.gov/atc

If you’re passionate about walking, biking, rolling, or riding the bus and want to help shape the future of transportation in Eugene, then consider applying for the Active Transportation Committee. This year's ATC cohort will have the unique opportunity to weigh in on the next Transportation System Plan -- an update that only happens every 10 years!

The ATC is a group of 15 community members who advise the City of Eugene’s Transportation Planning Team on projects and programs that help make Eugene safer and more accessible for everyone.

The ATC is an engaged community of transportation supporters. Members bring a wide range of perspectives and backgrounds and are united by a shared goal of improving the walking, biking, and bus riding experience in Eugene. Monthly meetings are lively and collaborative, offering opportunities to learn, contribute, and connect with others who care about transportation safety and innovation. The committee meets on the second Thursday of each month from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Joining the ATC means being part of a future-oriented group that’s helping Eugene lead the way in active transportation. If you’re ready to share your ideas and help build a better city, consider applying today.

Today! There are so many ways to get to school that make you feel good in body and mind, save gas money, build your student's independence, are better for the planet and help make the school streets safer. Today is a great day to try walking and rolling, whether it's all the way to school or whether it's parking a few blocks away and walking or rolling the rest. We hope you'll join this international movement!

Wouldn't that be great if there was a way to get more young people riding bikes? There is! And you can be a part of it! Read about the work we do here at Safe Routes to School and the City of Eugene Recreation and ways to volunteer. Shout out to our amazing volunteer, Christine Hall, who loves volunteering with us so much that she initiated and wrote the story with our 4J SRTS Coordinator to help get the word out.

We largely focus publicly on sharing the joy of and skills for active and shared travel. But behind the scenes, SRTS works with local governments and nonprofits as well as community members to play our part in moving our communities towards improved safety. We are deeply saddened by the loss of life and serious injuries taking place on our streets and look forward to a future where it's safer for everyone in our communities to move freely.
