The struggle against large scale AI data centers in Oregon has reached a critical juncture. For years, communities across the state have watched as these facilities consume vast amounts of energy and water, strain local infrastructure, cause environmental degradation, and reap enormous tax breaks while working people suffer and corporations and billionaires profit. Local grassroots organizing efforts have successfully halted data center projects, banned non-disclosure agreements, and passed moratoriums and bans in places across the state from La Pine to Woodburn and it’s time for Lane County to do the same.

We demand that elected officials in Lane County at both the county and municipal levels...

This Monday, we're calling on people to PACK the Springfield City Council meeting to demand a data center moratorium, ban on NDAs with data center developers and more. Springfield must stand up against these data centers before large corporations start proposing them here.

Neighboring city Eugene blocked a data center and doesn't allow for any data centers to be built by their zoning laws. Let's make that true in Springfield as well! Keep Oregon green! No new data centers anywhere!

‼️EUGENE WORKERS PACKED CITY COUNCIL TO REJECT DATA CENTERS ✊

Monday night, over a hundred people packed the Eugene City Council meeting with the council chamber and the overflow room filled to capacity and even more outside City Hall as the building itself hit capacity. 70+ people signed up for public comment.

Of about 50 public comments heard by council, almost all of them were in opposition to data centers in Eugene, demanding a moratorium, banning public subsidies and tax exemptions, and banning non-disclosure agreements with companies pursuing data centers.

While the city council offered some concessions, our fight does not stop here. Stay tuned for more actions as we continue to fight against data centers anywhere in the upper Willamette Valley!

This week, the city of Eugene decided that a date center cannot be operated at the former Hynix site. This is great news, but the city must go further.

We cannot stop at blocking a single data center. The City of Eugene has the power to stop any more data centers from being built in our city.

Demand that the City Council pass a data center moratorium in Eugene!

The shed roof at Matthews Community Garden was old and leaky. The city wouldn't replace it, because apparently they don't "have the budget for it." So we fundraised for it, then our members replaced it ourselves this weekend.

$2,814,952,975. $1,859 per taxpayer.

That’s how much taxpayer money is projected to be spent on mass deportations during the second Trump administration — money that could instead fund necessities in our communities, like teachers, firefighters, nurses, veterans’ medical care, Medicaid, Head Start, SNAP, public housing, and paid parental leave.

We’re constantly told by both Democrats and Republicans that there isn’t enough money to meet people’s basic needs. But as we see with the endless bipartisan wars waged at home and abroad, the resources are there. The question is what they’re being used for — and who they serve.

Under capitalism, our collective resources are weaponized in service of the agendas of the wealthy and powerful, rather than being used to meet the needs of working people.

We need a new system where working people have the power to determine how our resources are used and how our future is planned. That system is called socialism.
