We are so fortunate to have Sequoia 🌿 Park right across the street from Washington School. Today these students took their science 📝 lesson outside. They spent time observing 🔎 ecosystems and classifying living and nonliving things. They were able to find producers, consumers, and decomposers too. Any day we can learn outside is a great day. 💙🦦💙

Today, Mrs. Rains’ class had the opportunity to visit Sue-meg Village to wrap up their Social Studies unit.

Students had the chance to learn more about the Yurok culture and hear about many different aspects of daily life in Sue-meg Village. It was a wonderful opportunity to take what they've been learning in the classroom and experience history and culture in a meaningful, hands-on way. They also were able to tie in their science unit on food chains, food webs, and ecosystems. 🌳🐌🦠

After their tour, they visited Ceremonial Rock and learned more about its significance. They then enjoyed lunch together before heading back to school.

What a special day of learning, exploring, and connecting with the history and culture of our local area! 🌲💙🦦💙
