Vote Ben Larson Assessor Creating fair and transparent property values for Humboldt County.

Here’s an interesting message currently being circulated by our Humboldt County assessors office. This will have a significant negative impact on real estate transactions for sellers and appraisers. I’m all for technology improvements projects, but it’s hard to believe that eliminating access to property characteristics for nearly a year is the best way to handle this.

Hello,
The Humboldt County Assessor’s Office is preparing to transition to a digital records system. Beginning October 16, 2026, our staff will temporarily lose access to our parcel records while this transition is underway. We anticipate the process will continue through June 2027.
During this transition, we will be unable to fulfill Property Characteristics requests until access to our records is restored.
The 4th quarter billing cycle is expected to be reconciled by November 1, 2026. Please expect the final 2026 property characteristics billing information emailed in November.
We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work through this transition. Thank you for your continued cooperation
Best Regards,

Here’s a link to the CA state Board of Equalization property tax page. I’ve had people reach out asking how they escalate issues they’re having with the local assessor office.

The mission of the State Board of Equalization is to serve the public through fair, effective, and efficient tax administration

Hi everyone,

If you have friends sharing assessor office/property tax issues online, then please have them tag Vote Ben Larson Assessor on their post. This is a good way to bring more attention to their post and also make it easy for me to share their stories in 4 years for another run at fixing the Humboldt County Assessors office.

There are more and more stories of people receiving tax bills with balances due going back 4 years. I whole heartedly believe if the Assessor election were to take place in November and I had more than 2 months to educate the public and let all these stories come to light then I would have won by a landslide. Please share you stories with me through messenger and I will help create a winning campaign in 4 years.

I would encourage everyone to continue to use my FB page to let me know about any issues they have with the Assessors Office. If the poor performance keeps up over the next 4 years I will run again. I have learned so much and will continue my work in the mortgage lending world with Larson Home Loans, but I will always keep a close eye on the Assessors Office moving forward. I look forward to seeing the next Board of Equalization Practices Survey on the HumCo Assessor’s Office which is due within a year. Thank again everyone. In the meantime if you have questions about buying a home reach out.

I want to thank everyone who supported me through this process. It meant a lot to me. Doesn’t look like I achieved as much as I had hoped, but it was a fun and quick ride. Hopefully I brought to light the major issues plaguing the Assessors Office and they fix them to better serve the public. I truly feel for the people who have been impacted negatively by property taxes in Humboldt and many of those circumstances are avoidable and/or could be minimized. Keep advocating for yourselves and hopefully our elected officials will make some positive changes.

It’s finally here. Election Day is tomorrow! Make sure you get out and vote!
