Red Ribbon Week Food Drive (October 26-30)

In addition to our fun Red Ribbon Week dress-up days (October 26-30), Riverside is encouraging students to make a positive impact in our community by donating canned goods and other nonperishable food items. This service project gives students an opportunity to show kindness, support local families, and see how even small acts of generosity can make a big difference.
🥫 Bring a canned good or nonperishable food item to help local families in need.
⭐ Students who donate will earn a brag tag as a thank-you for their generosity.
❤️ Every donation makes an impact. Even one item can help provide meals for families facing difficult times.
🍲 Donations help put nutritious food on tables for neighbors right here in our community.

It’s been another week full of learning, creativity, and teamwork at RES!

👏 First, let’s give a HUGE round of applause to ALL of our Dolphins for their participation in our Touchdown for Reading Beanstack Challenge! 🏈📚

We may not have taken home the district win this time, but in our eyes, we are ALL winners! With an incredible 94% of our student population reading and logging minutes, we have so much to celebrate! Seeing our students excited about reading is a victory that goes far beyond a scoreboard. We couldn’t be prouder of our Dolphins! 💙

The learning and fun didn’t stop there!

Our BrightBots Robotics Team has been busy team building, collaborating, and learning the importance of working together!

Our 3rd Grade IE classes put their teamwork and writing skills to work! After carving a pumpkin together, students used their experience to write a “How to Carve a Pumpkin” piece.

Our Fall Auction winners enjoyed a special Diamond Art class with Mrs. Capell and Mrs. Waege. It was such a fun time creating, laughing, and spending time together!

From building robots to carving pumpkins and creating beautiful artwork, our Dolphins continue to show that learning happens in so many different ways!

Another wonderful week of illuminating minds and inspiring futures!

Every school day begins and ends with some very special people—our bus drivers!

We are so thankful for the dedication, patience, and care you show as you safely transport our Dolphins to and from school each day. Your job comes with tremendous responsibility, and we want you to know that your hard work does not go unnoticed!

You are often the first smiling face our students see in the morning and the last to wish them a good afternoon. Thank you for going the extra mile, building relationships, and being such an important part of our Riverside family.

We appreciate you more than you know!

What a sweet treat we enjoyed today!

Dr. Flynt has been visiting all Columbia County schools and treating staff to delicious food truck options! Today, it was our turn! The pictures show just how much we enjoyed this special surprise and the extra sweetness it brought to our day.

Thank you for taking the time to visit Riverside Elementary and for showing your appreciation for our hardworking staff. We are grateful for your support!

🎉💗 Today, we want to wish our wonderful principal, Mrs. Gardner, a very Happy Birthday! 💗🎉

Mrs. Gardner leads with heart, strength, and dedication, and her genuine love for our students, staff, and school shines through in all she does. She gives so much of herself to others, and we hope today reminded her just how loved and appreciated she truly is!

Our students helped make her day special by creating heartfelt birthday cards, while our teachers joined in the fun by dressing in 1960s attire to celebrate her milestone birthday!

We love you, Mrs. Gardner, and are so thankful for all you do for our Riverside family! 💙

🏈📚 **TOUCHDOWN FOR READING UPDATE!** 🐬💙

What a fun way to celebrate our readers! We had a blast at our Halftime Challenge, where our top readers from each grade level went head-to-head with Mrs. Gardner and Officer Saal in a football-throwing competition! 🏈👏 The excitement was contagious as classmates cheered for their representatives! It was a great afternoon filled with school spirit, friendly competition, and lots of cheering for our amazing readers! Our Kindergarten top reader was out sick, so his mom, our very own Mrs. Capell, stepped in and competed for him. You may be able to tell from the excitement in the pictures that Officer Saal won by making all three shots!!

And speaking of amazing readers, we are SO excited to share that **87% of our K–5 students** have logged reading minutes in Beanstack since our district challenge began!

With just **5 days left**, we're making one final push to get EVERY student to log 300 minutes!

Many of our Dolphins have already crossed the finish line, completed the challenge, and earned their yardage prizes!

But what makes us most proud is this: Whether we finish first in the district or not, we've already won because our students are READING, building stronger habits, and discovering the joy of books. And that, in our book, is the biggest WIN of all!

Let's finish strong, Dolphins! 🐬

October 19–23, we are celebrating the wonderful bus drivers who safely transport our Riverside Dolphins each day!
Our bus drivers do so much more than get our students to and from school. They greet them with a smile, build relationships, and help start and end each school day on a positive note!

We invite our Riverside families to join us in showing our drivers just how much they are appreciated! We’ve shared some fun and simple ways students can spread a little kindness throughout the week.

🚌💛 Next week is Bus Driver Appreciation Week! October 19–23

RES families, let’s show our bus drivers how much we appreciate them! From handmade cards and artwork to kind words and small treats, a little gesture can brighten their day.
