Meet Yuko Ohnari and Koshiro Hata, the internationally known Japanese creative team behind the 2025 picture book Downpour: Splish! Splash! Ker-Splash!. Enjoy a bilingual Japanese and English reading of this book, a sensory-rich story about a young boy enjoying a summer rainstorm. Copies of their book will be on sale for signings at the event. For children of all ages and their caregivers. No registration required.

Stroller Strides® is a 60-minute total-body workout with strength, cardio, and core training, all while engaging the little ones in a stroller! You’ll leave class feeling strong, empowered, connected, and energized—no matter your stage of motherhood. Our free intro class is being brought to us by Fit4Mom Central North Shore Chicago. Bring your little one in a stroller and have fun with us!

For Teens! Celebrate Juneteenth with an afternoon of art! This June we're using art to celebrate Black culture and express what Juneteenth means to us. We will be working on individual pieces that build into a bigger Juneteenth display that we'll put up in the library for the whole community to enjoy!

Experience the vibrant traditions of Puerto Rican Bomba and West African drumming with performances and presentations by La Escuelita Bombera De Corazón™️ and Victoriadjembe. Through rhythm, dance, and community, this program explores themes of resilience, liberation, and cultural legacy across the African and Latin diasporas.

Summer Reading for Kids Starts today!

Visit both library branches this summer for fun and free activities for kids ages Birth to Grade 5.

How can you participate in Summer Reading? It's easy! Starting June 1, register in person at the Main Library or Robert Crown Library to pick up your summer reading log. This year’s theme is Plant a Seed: Read! Kids can earn a free paperback book when they complete the program. They can also earn tickets for the library’s weekly and grand prize raffles.

No library card or residency requirement – Summer Reading at EPL is free and open to all!
