Tomorrow is our last event of Take Back the Night 2021! All are welcome

This yoga session will begin with a short community reading about the potential of a feminist-informed yoga practice. This will be followed by a ~30 min beginner-friendly yoga practice intended to stretch the body, focus the mind, and center the spirit. The practice will close out with a short, guided meditation!

Ways To Help 06/01/2020

Northwestern University College Feminists stands in solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement and those protesting tirelessly against police brutality and the systemic injustices targeting Black communities in America.

American Feminism has had a strained history with inclusivity. As College Feminists, we have always strived for intersectionality and equality. Racism and anti-Blackness are deeply ingrained within American history and politics, and it is our job to speak up and take action. We would like to voice our support for the Black community, within NU and beyond. But, words are not enough. We implore everyone to take action.

To those with the financial means, donate to organizations fighting this injustice such as Reclaim the Block, Black Visions Collection, The Bail Project and The Chicago Community Bond Fund. This is by no means an exhaustive list, and we encourage everyone to research organizations both locally and nationally. Fossil Free Northwestern is collecting smaller donations through Venmo as well. We also encourage everyone to sign petitions, call officials, and educate those in your community. It is important to be thinking critically of your own actions and how you may use your privilege and knowledge to raise awareness.

We cannot forget that feminist and Black histories are fundamentally intertwined, and yet too often feminism is not inclusive enough of POC, especially Black communities. If we do not stand and fight in solidarity against the institutionalized racism of the American carceral system, our claims to stand for equality are useless. We are taking this time to actively seek education and awareness, and we encourage you to do the same. We will continue to support the fight long after this moment passes.
