Introducing the Community Table Fund 🍽️
A new initiative designed to ensure that every community member can access meals regardless of financial circumstances, even as food and packaging costs continue to rise.
85% of our clients qualify for reduced-fee meals based on income and need. This care creates a gap of roughly $15,000 each month in subsidized meal costs. The Community Table Fund directly bridges this gap ensuring local veterans, retirees on fixed incomes, and neighbors facing sudden hardships never face a waitlist.
Even a small monthly contribution makes a meaningful difference and helps us plan ahead with confidence. Together, we can make sure that no one in our community is ever turned away from a meal they need.

Rising costs of living combined with cuts to SNAP benefits are creating renewed concerns about food insecurity, especially for households already struggling to make ends meet. For older adults living on fixed incomes, these pressures can be devastating.
This recent report is an important reminder of growing challenges facing vulnerable communities across the country. As these challenges grow, so does the need for community support.

We are deeply saddened to share the passing of our former Board President, Warren Lupel.
Warren began his journey with Meals on Wheels Northeast Illinois as a volunteer meal delivery driver, forming meaningful connections with the older adults he served. His dedication to our mission led him to become a Board Member and later Board President, where his leadership, compassion, and generosity helped shape and strengthen our organization.
He believed deeply in caring for others and building community. His legacy lives on in every life touched through the work he championed.
We are profoundly grateful for his service and friendship. Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones during this difficult time.

As this winter cold front drags on, it can be especially isolating for those who live alone and are homebound. Snow and ice can turn simple routines into real barriers, and days may pass without seeing another person.
That is why a simple knock at the door can be a true ray of sunshine.
Each delivery brings nourishment, connection, and a reminder that someone cares.
Help us bring warmth and a little sunshine to someone’s day.
