Our first snowfall of the season is here in Evanston!

As temperatures drop and road conditions begin to change, Evanston Fire & Ambulance would like to remind everyone to use extra caution while traveling.

Even a small amount of snow can create slick conditions, especially on bridges, overpasses, and intersections.

We hope everyone has a safe start to the winter season!❄️❄️❄️❄️

Today, your Evanston volunteer firefighters had the chance to teach kids from North Elementary about fire safety! 🚒🔥

We had a great time talking with the students about what to do in an emergency and how they can help keep themselves and their families safe.

It was great having the North Elementary kids visit us at the fire station. Thanks for coming by!

Our Evanston firefighters and EMTs spent the day participating in advanced extrication training. This gave our crews the chance to get hands-on with our rescue equipment, work through different scenarios, and practice the techniques used to safely remove patients from vehicles after serious accidents.

Training days like this are important because they give our firefighters and EMTs the opportunity to work together, learn from one another, and stay familiar with the equipment and skills we may need at a moment’s notice.

A big thank you to Robertson’s Towing, Uinta County School District #1, Jim’s Towing, South & Jones, and Bigzz Sanitation for helping make this training possible. Having the support of local businesses and organizations gives our crews opportunities to train in realistic situations and better prepare for the calls we respond to.

We also want to thank our volunteers who gave up part of their weekend to come out, train, and continue improving their skills. The time and dedication they give to Evanston Fire & Ambulance and our community is greatly appreciated.

It was a great day of training, teamwork, and learning for everyone involved!

25 years ago today, our country experienced a loss that will never be forgotten.

Today we remember the 2,977 lives lost, including the 343 FDNY firefighters who answered the call that morning knowing others needed their help. We remember the police officers, EMS personnel, other first responders, and everyday people who showed incredible courage in the middle of tragedy.

We remember those who never made it home to their families, and the husbands, wives, children, parents, friends, and coworkers who have carried that loss ever since.

For those of us in the fire and EMS community, September 11 will always hit close to home. It reminds us of the meaning of service, sacrifice, and being there for others when they need us.

25 years later, we still remember.

May we always carry their memory with us, honor their sacrifice, and never forget the courage of those who ran toward danger when others needed them most.

🇺🇸 Never Forget. 9/11/2001 🇺🇸

With fall right around the corner and cooler nights on the way, we wanted to give everyone in our community a quick reminder before heating season gets here.

Before you turn your furnace on for the season, take the time to have it serviced and make sure everything is working properly. The same goes for any heaters you may use around your home or garage. A little maintenance ahead of time can help catch problems before they turn into something more serious.

This is also a good time to check your carbon monoxide detectors. Test them, replace the batteries if needed, and make sure you have working detectors in your home. Carbon monoxide is odorless and colorless, and without a working detector you may not know there’s a problem.

If your carbon monoxide detector goes off, don’t ignore it. Get everyone outside into fresh air and call 911.

As we head into another fall and winter here in Evanston, take a few minutes to make sure your home is ready for the colder weather. Check on family, friends, and neighbors who may need a hand getting ready too.

A little prevention can go a long way toward keeping everyone safe.

Stay safe, Evanston! 🍂🍂🚒🚑🍂🍂

Today we want to recognize and thank the incredible volunteers who give so much of their time to serve Evanston and our surrounding communities.

Our volunteers answer the call at all hours of the day and night. They leave their families, jobs, dinners, holidays, and warm beds when someone in our community needs help. They put in countless hours training and responding to emergencies, and they’re there for their neighbors on some of their hardest days.

They don’t do it for the recognition. They do it because they care about this community and the people in it.

To all of our volunteers, thank you. Thank you for your time, your dedication, and the sacrifices you make to be there when you’re needed. We’re incredibly grateful for each and every one of you and proud to have you as part of Evanston Fire & Ambulance.

We also want to thank the families, employers, and loved ones who support our volunteers. Your support makes what they do possible, and we appreciate you too.

If you see one of our volunteers today, be sure to thank them for everything they do for our community.
