The Citizens' Network of Protection - Evanston, IL

CNP is establishing a framework for a truly independent community control oversight and accountability review board in order to strengthen integrity within all systems of law enforcement in Evanston, Illinois. The CNP aims to assist the Evanston Police Department, the City of Evanston officials, and the residents of Evanston in its efforts to develop the most effective system of oversight and accountability, and addresses issues including:

* enhancement of police integrity and the integrity of law enforcement.

* dealing with complaints about policing, including but not limited to, receipt, investigation, and follow-up.

* setting policing priorities and encouraging policy input, including from outside the police department.

*Inviting external review, including from independent actors

* vast majority of police are working to serve the City of Evanston but we need to create a mechanism for these officers to create change.
