While the federal government drives up costs with foreign wars and misguided trade policies, Illinois cut more than $600 million in taxes for over 950,000 working families. In 2025, the Illinois Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and Child Tax Credit (CTC) together saved recipients an average of $1,460.

Congratulations to Evanston Township High School on receiving Financial Aid Application Completion Recognition of Excellence!

College becomes more affordable and accessible for young adults when schools take an active, hands-on role in guiding students through the financial aid process. That’s why last year, I voted to pass House Bills 3096 and 3097, now law, ensuring every Illinois high school has a FAFSA point of contact available for students to seek support during their school day.

Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) applications open soon. Beginning October 1, eligible families can apply by visiting the DCEO website or their local agency.

Eligible applicants include adults 60 and older, individuals with a disability, families with children five years old or younger, and households that are disconnected from their utilities, have a disconnection notice or have less than 25% in their propane tank. Applications for all other eligible households will open on November 1.
