Kindergarten has also been learning about being kind to everyone. 💚

Mrs. Lahee-Thompson read the book “I Eat Poop”, which is about a dung beetle who was afraid of being made fun of because he eats p**p. The book unfolds into a story of accepting everyone for who they are and to be kind to everyone.

The students in Mrs. Beshear, Mrs. Stafford, and Mrs. Potter’s class definitely got a laugh from the book but also learned To Be Kind To All. 💚

The 2nd graders in Mrs. Hollinger’s, Mr. Stansfield’s, and Ms. Granderson’s class have been learning about healthy friendship boundaries this week.

Our school counselor, Mrs. Lahee-Thompson, has been reading the book “The not-so-friendly Friend” and completing a friendship jar activity. We learned what is an appropriate friendship boundary and how to talk through conflict resolution. 💚

During math groups in Mrs. Beshear’s class, students worked hard with partners to create counting stairs!

They practiced counting in order, recognizing number patterns, and working together to build their stairs. We loved seeing them collaborate, problem-solve, and build their math skills! Way to go kindergarten friends. 💚

📚💚 Little Readers, BIG Learning at Caze! 🐾

This is what strong literacy instruction looks like in action! Our Cougars are hard at work during Roll & Read, practicing their decoding skills and building confidence as independent readers. Students are quietly sounding out words, listening to themselves read, and staying engaged in meaningful practice while their teacher provides targeted small-group instruction.

What we LOVE about these moments is that our students aren’t just learning to read—they’re learning how to be independent, confident, and responsible learners!

Purposeful instruction, established routines, and high expectations make moments like these possible.

💚 One Team. One Goal. Every Cougar Growing! 🐾

Adventure Awaits in High Ability!

This semester, our 3rd Grade High Ability students are traveling back to the 1600s as they read through “A Lion to Guard Us” by Clyde Robert Bulla!

To bring this historical adventure to life, the students created their very own Travel Journals! ✍️📜 Through historical exploration and critical thinking, our young travelers are discovering what life was like centuries ago while making meaningful connections to the story.

A BIG thank you to soccer referee, Casey Getzin, for spending the day with our Caze Cougars! ⚽💚

Casey joined us for every recess today, bringing lots of energy, excitement, and fun to the soccer field! Our students absolutely loved having her there!

We are so thankful for community members who take time out of their day to invest in our students and make their school day a little extra special. Thank you, Casey!

🧡 Kindness Matters at Caze!

Throughout October, our Cougars have been focusing on what it means to create a school community where everyone feels safe, respected, and included.

Each morning, students have been challenged to put kindness into action through our daily announcements. In classrooms, we’ve also been learning important life skills, including how to navigate disagreements, solve conflicts respectfully, recognize bullying behaviors, and understand when it’s important to seek help from a trusted adult.

Bullying prevention is about more than telling students to be kind. It’s about teaching them the skills to build healthy relationships, stand up for others, and take responsibility for how they treat people.

Next week, October 19–23, we’re bringing those lessons to life with our Bullying Prevention Month Spirit Week! We invite all Cougars to participate in our themed dress-up days as we celebrate kindness, inclusion, and school unity.

At Caze, HEART isn’t just something we talk about. It’s something we practice every day!

One Team. One Goal. A Kinder Caze. 💚
