Post 82 Explorers assisted VCSO Deputies, EPD Officers, ISP Troopers, and ISEP Officers on a sobriety checkpoint. Explorers assisted with directing motorists out of the checkpoint and got to observe standardized field sobriety testing (SFSTs).

Join us tomorrow, 10a-2p, for Rule the Road! A free, hands-on driving experience for teen drivers!

Join us on Saturday, July 11, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Christian Fellowship Church | Evansville, Indiana for Rule The Road , a FREE hands-on driving event for teens ages 15-18! Participants will build confidence and improve their driving skills through interactive courses led by certified emergency vehicle operators and law enforcement.

A valid driver's permit or license and a personal vehicle are required for the driving portion.

This week, Post 82 Explorers learned about handcuffing and prisoner transportation. Explorers had the opportunity to get hands-on training in handcuffing from the standing, kneeling, and prone positions. Explorers also learned about the transportation of high risk inmates and techniques used to keep everyone safe and secure.

This weekend, VCSO Post 82 Explorers traveled to Gatlinburg, TN to compete at the BSA Winterfest. 45 Law Enforcement Explorer Posts from 17 different states competed against each other in a number of reality-based scenarios. Post 82 drew the Burglary in Progress, Officer Down, Jail Cell Search, Crime Scene/Escape Room, DUI Traffic Stop, Crisis/Hostage Negotiation, Active Shooter, Crash Investigation, and Modified PT/POPAT scenarios. Post 82 Explorers also competed in the laser pistol competition, archery competition, and squeeze box competition. Post 82 won 2nd place 🥈 in Crisis Negotiation and 3rd Place 🥉 in the Modified PT/POPAT physical agility course.

Special thanks to Sheriff Noah Robinson and the Vanderburgh County Sheriff's Office for making it possible for us to attend, along with the Buffalo Trace Council, Scouting America for their support. We learned a lot and had a blast!
