Workforce Snohomish Workforce Snohomish strengthens local businesses and supports workers in finding gainful employment. Washington Relay 711.

Since its inception, Workforce Snohomish has underpinned the county’s economic foundation by strengthening local businesses, supporting workers, and assisting unemployed residents to find gainful employment. We ensure people have the opportunity to thrive and engage in a vibrant community. Workforce Snohomish receives federal funding from the Local Workforce Investment Board (LWIB) to oversee and operate the two WorkSource Centers in the county, located in Everett and Lynnwood. The WorkSource Centers are part of the nationwide American Job Center system offering free services such as: unemployment insurance information; employment related workshops; job fairs and on-site recruiting events; and links to educational and training opportunities. Workforce Snohomish continually seeks out partners to provide services in the WorkSource Centers, ensuring the most comprehensive system possible for county residents. Workforce Snohomish is an equal opportunity employer/program. Auxiliary aids and services are available upon request to individuals with disabilities. Language assistance services for limited English proficient individuals are available free of charge. Workforce Snohomish receives support and funding from US DOL and HHS grant(s). πŸ“’ Big news for Snohomish County's Economy and Workforce!

Sound Transit is bringing light rail north from Lynnwood City Center all the way to Everett. That means new commute options, more connections between workers and jobs, and construction and operations work right here at home.

🌟 Why it matters for our workforce

Transit projects like this shape where businesses locate, how people get to work, and what kind of talent pipeline we can build in our community:
βœ… New training pipelines for construction trades during the build
βœ… Long-term jobs in transit operations and maintenance
βœ… Growth around new stations that brings more employers into reach

🌟 Your input matters

Sound Transit is deciding where stations and the maintenance facility will go, and those decisions will shape which neighborhoods see the economic benefit. The Draft Environmental Impact Statement is open for public comment through November 2. Submit a comment on the EIS or attend a public meeting to learn more and make your voice heard.

🌟 Make sure Snohomish County's workforce needs are part of this conversation. Learn more at everettlink.participate.online

This October, we're Celebrating Value and Talent in recognition of National Disability Employment Awareness Month!

Every workplace is stronger when it reflects the full talent and experience of its community, and that includes people with disabilities. This month is a reminder to employers, job seekers, and partners alike that inclusive hiring isn't just the right thing to do, it's good for business.

A few ways employers can get involved:
🀝 Start or expand a registered apprenticeship program to reach a wider talent pool: dol.gov/agencies/odep/program-areas/apprenticeship
πŸ’‘ Build a supportive workplace with free guidance from the Job Accommodation Network at AskJAN.org, including their Situations and Solutions Finder with 700+ real accommodation examples
🌐 Recruit, hire, retain, and advance people with disabilities, including those with mental health conditions and other nonobvious disabilities, with help from AskEARN.org
πŸ“š Learn more about the Office of Disability Employment Policy's work at dol.gov/agencies/odep
πŸŽ₯ Check out free PSA videos and posters from the Campaign for Disability Employment at WhatCanYouDoCampaign.org

Let's celebrate the value and talent that people with disabilities bring to our workforce, all month long and beyond.

The field trip that inspired you. The teacher who encouraged you. The local boards and leaders who helped shape career pathways. The boss who then hired you. The ongoing growth and success. The worksite tour you later gave to a field trip of inspired young people = workforce development.

Within each of our 12 local workforce development areas across Washington, millions of people are dedicating their lives to helping others find and secure sustainable employment and build successful, thriving communities. β€œWorkforce development” might not be a phrase we all use every day, but workforce development is what many of us actually do every day. If you have a job or are enrolled in school, if you help people get connected to resources or run a business of your own, guess what? You’re in workforce development too!

Shout out to all 12 of our hardworking and dedicated local workforce boards and their teams. Washington State is an incredible place to live and work because of how you help grow and shape our workforce. Thank you for all you do.
