💜 The power of being seen, heard, and supported.

Healing can feel less lonely when we find others who understand our experiences. Connecting with other women in a CFS support group helped this DV survivor find strength, encouragement, and a sense of belonging.

Sometimes, knowing you’re not alone can make all the difference. Every survivor deserves a safe space to be heard, supported, and reminded of their own strength.

If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic violence, Child & Family Service (CFS) is here to help. Support is available, and you don’t have to navigate this alone. 💜

"By being able to come together for conferences like this every year, helps us to build our networks to build a stronger safety net for families on Maui County."

At the 2026 Hoʻoikaika Annual Conference, Luana HueSing-Ammassi of Maui Family Support Services, Inc., and Mia Sado-Magbual of Child & Family Service, reflect on the importance of coming together, learning from one another and building pilina across our Maui County community.

By stepping outside our organizational silos and practicing self-compassion, we can strengthen our partnerships and better support the families we serve.

Together, we grow stronger. 🌱

💜 Safety is the first step but what comes next? Support makes the next steps possible.

Leaving an abusive relationship is not the end of a survivor’s journey. It’s often the beginning of a new one, and no one should have to navigate it alone.

Finding safe, affordable housing. Getting to work or counseling. Securing childcare. Putting food on the table. Rebuilding financial independence. These everyday needs can make a meaningful difference as survivors work toward safety, healing and stability for themselves, their children, and their families.

At Child & Family Service (CFS), we understand that supporting survivors means looking beyond the immediate crisis and helping families access the resources they need to move forward.

💜 This Domestic Violence Awareness Month, let’s remember that support shouldn’t end when a crisis passes or when October comes to a close. Together, we can help build communities where survivors have access to safe housing, supportive relationships, essential resources and the opportunity to thrive.

Because lasting safety is about more than surviving today. It’s about having the support to build a safer tomorrow.

💜 Behind every number is a person. Behind every person is a story.

At Child & Family Service, we see the need for domestic violence support firsthand.

So far in 2026, CFS has served 1,926 people impacted by domestic violence.

On Hawaiʻi Island:
📞 638 domestic violence hotline calls were received
📝 364 individuals were assisted with temporary restraining orders
💜 Domestic violence was involved in 36% of individuals served

On Oʻahu:
📞 899 domestic violence hotline calls were received

These numbers represent more than calls, referrals or services. They represent people and families — each with different circumstances, needs and goals.

That’s why our approach goes beyond responding to an immediate crisis. We also look at the circumstances surrounding survivors and their families that can affect their ability to find safety, heal and move forward.

Because support should meet people where they are — and help them take the next step toward the future they envision.

This Domestic Violence Awareness Month, let’s remember the people behind the numbers and continue building communities where survivors and families can find support, safety and hope. Click the link in our bio to read more about CFS domestic violence services. 💜

💜Hope starts here. No one should have to weather life's storms alone.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM). This month, Child & Family Service is standing with survivors, raising awareness, and reminding our community that support, healing, and hope are possible.

Inspired by the resilience of the 'a'ali'i plant:
He ‘a‘ali‘i kū makani mai au; ‘a‘ohe makani nāna e kūla‘i.
I am the ‘a‘ali‘i standing in the wind; no wind can push me over.

🪴At CFS, we help survivors build strong foundations through safety planning, advocacy, counseling, shelter support, and compassionate care so healing can take root and hope can grow.

This October, stand with us.
Show up- Join us for our sign waving and other DVAM events.
