🔥A little history: Fire Prevention Week is observed every year during the week of October 9, commemorating the Great Chicago Fire of 1871. Beginning in 1922 NFPA has sponsored the public observance of Fire Prevention Week, with President Calvin Coolidge formalizing it in 1925 — making it the longest running public health observance in the U.S.

👨‍🚒Why we do it: Fire prevention starts within. Through proper training, education, and equipment Station 6 remains committed to the highest standards and operating practices — the best way we can protect our community is to never stop improving.

🚒What we do: This week’s training put that commitment into action. We focused on complex vehicle rescue scenarios that sharpened the skills we rely on when every second counts. We may not know all that a scene may involve until we walk into it but we know we can rely on what we’ve learned and on each other.

Fire prevention goes beyond preventing fires. It’s also about lessening the fire’s potential impact.

Station 6 had a busy weekend in West Whiteland, and we wouldn’t have it any other way. 🚒

On Saturday, our Fire Police kept everyone moving safely at the inaugural NAMIWalks event. An important moment supporting mental health awareness right in our own community. đź’š

Sunday we had the opportunity to support two great events. The West Chester Gun Club extended an invitation to attend their Club Championship event — and we were honored to show our support. Founded in 1898, the WCGC is one of the oldest clubs in PA with over 400 members. It’s a true piece of Chester County’s history. 🎯

We also had the privilege of joining the HEADstrong Foundation at their annual Love for Lily Fest event — a cause we keep close to our hearts to help families with loved ones battling pediatric cancer. We will always show up to honor Lily and support other families. 💛

Closing out the weekend, October 4th marked the start of Fire Prevention Week! This year’s theme focuses on everyday safe charging habits: Charge into Fire Safety — Safe Charging is a Super Power. 🔋

Stay tuned for everything we have planned this week! 🔥

Around 7:45 AM this morning Station 6 alongside West Whiteland Twp Police Dept and Good Fellowship Ambulance responded to a vechicle entrapment southbound on Route 202.

The vehicle was found approximately 40 feet off the highway down an embankment. Crews quickly assessed the scene and provided aid to those involved.

Our thoughts are with everyone affected. Times like this serve as a reminder that proper training and teamwork can make all the difference on scene. Thank you Good Fellowship Ambulance and West Whiteland Twp Police Dept for being great partners!

Did you know September is National Preparedness Month? Weather conditions like we had this past weekend remind us that natural and even man-made disasters can happen at any moment.

Preparedness starts before the emergency, it’s important it is to have a plan in place — whether you’re at home, at work, or traveling on vacation. Taking a few simple steps now to prepare can make all the difference for you, your family, and your community during an emergency situation.
