This year, Camp WANGY partnered with Our Military Kids and the YMCA of the Inland Northwest to give our youth the opportunity to build lifelong friendships and connect with fellow military kids who understand their unique experiences.
Yesterday included Flight Time, a special briefing from our Military Family Life Counselors, and a favorite camp game, Counselor’s Ghost. Staff members hid throughout camp while campers searched for them, and any staff member who was caught had to “walk the plank” into the lake.
These are the moments that make Camp WANGY so special. Our goal is to create a community where military kids feel supported, understood, and connected while making new friends and creating memories that will last a lifetime.
We are grateful to Our Military Kids for the incredible support they provide to military families. Through grants for children of deployed service members and combat-injured veterans, they help military kids participate in activities that build confidence, connection, and community.

Camp WANGY partnered with Our Military Kids and YMCA of the Inland Northwest this year to give each of our youth the opportunity to build lifelong friendships and connections with fellow military kids. đź’™
The day started with Flight Time, where our Junior Counselors worked with small groups of kids to problem-solve, play fun games, and—most importantly—build the relationships and connections that matter. 🧩🎲❤️
It’s moments like these that make Camp WANGY special. This week is about creating a community where military kids can connect with others who understand their experiences, make new friends, and create memories that will last a lifetime.
Speaking of important connections…today brought some very special visitors to camp! 🥰 Parents had the opportunity to visit, see what their kids have been up to, and experience a little bit of Camp WANGY for themselves.
Families are at the heart of everything we do, and we were honored to welcome them to camp today!

Our Military Kids and YMCA of the Inland Northwestmade a LOT of smiles happen yesterday, and the kids of Camp WANGY have been busy! đź’™
Our older flights kicked off the day yesterday at the Camp Reed Ropes Course, where they faced plenty of challenges, solved difficult puzzles, and learned the power of working together as a team. 💪🧗‍♀️
This week is all about building friendships, making memories, stepping outside comfort zones, and giving these kids experiences they’ll carry with them for a lifetime. ❤️

Camp WANGY Is Underway! 🏕️

Camp WANGY is officially underway! Our campers arrived today, got checked in and jumped right into the fun with “The Big Game.” 🎯

This week is all about building friendships, creating memories and giving these kids experiences they’ll carry with them for a lifetime.

A huge THANK YOU to Our Military Kids for providing grants that make it possible for each of these campers to attend. Your support gives military-connected kids the opportunity to simply be kids, make new friends and experience the adventure of Camp WANGY. ❤️

Here’s to an incredible week! Let the camp memories begin! 🇺🇸🏕️

This morning Col Jim McGovern, 141st ARW Commander, CMSgt Stephen Nolan, Washington Air National Guard Command Chief and CMSgt Steve Webster 141st ARW Command Chief, stopped by several checkpoints to visit with Airmen and deliver some cold drinks to our Guardsmen while making sure they have what they need to keep the mission going. One of the most frequent responses was “look at all this food/drinks/snacks, the community has been taking care of us.” Thank YOU Spokane for showing your National Guard how much they mean to you!

Your Washington Air National Guardsmen have been out assisting first responders enforcing traffic control around the Spokane Complex fires. Please be patient while entering these areas, if they are telling you the road is closed it is ultimately for your safety and know the situation can change very rapidly, so a road you could enter yesterday maybe closed today.

Military families and retirees who are impacted by evacuations or loss from the Spokane Complex Fires can access Fairchild’s Emergency Family Assistance Center located in the Red Morgan Center. See below for resources offered at the EFAC:
