⚠️ Potential Power Shutoff in Solano County

PG&E has announced a possible Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) that could affect parts of Solano County and other areas of California. A Public Safety Power Shutoff is when PG&E temporarily turns off electricity to help prevent wildfires during serious weather conditions.

📅 Potential Power Shutoff: Wednesday, October 14, at 9 PM through Saturday, October 17, at 8 AM.

Here are a few ways you can prepare:

Charge your phones, medical devices, and other essential electronics ahead of time.

Keep flashlights, batteries, and emergency supplies ready.

Make a plan for medications that need refrigeration and medical equipment that requires electricity.

Stay informed about possible outages and updates from PG&E.

Note: Not everyone in Solano County will be affected. Power shutoffs will depend on weather conditions and the areas PG&E identifies as being at risk.

For the latest updates and to check whether your address may be affected, visit https://pge.com/psps.

Disease Intervention Specialist (DIS), also known as Communicable Disease Investigator (CDI), Recognition Day is October 2. This year marks 15 years of formally recognizing the vital contributions of this workforce.

DIS professionals have their roots in the 1930s, when they responded to rising syphilis rates. Today, syphilis, especially cases passed from a pregnant person to their baby, is once again on the rise, and DIS professionals continue to play an important role in the response.

🔎 DIS professionals help identify, track, and prevent the spread of infections, from syphilis and other sexually transmitted infections (STIs) to emerging diseases like COVID-19 and mpox. They work in local health departments, community-based organizations, and neighborhood clinics to improve health outcomes and provide education in our communities. 🩺

The 2026 theme, “The Rhythm of Public Health,” highlights how DIS professionals keep our communities moving forward by responding quickly, supporting individuals, and helping prevent the spread of communicable diseases.
