🚧 Investing in Fairhope’s Wastewater Infrastructure!

Some of the most important improvements happen underground!

Beginning in early November, FPU will begin a sewer rehabilitation project to extend the life of aging pipes and manholes in several areas west of Greeno Road.

⚑ We had the best time visiting our kindergarten friends at Fairhope East this morning!

Our Electric crew stopped by with Pete the Pelican to teach the kids about electrical safety and give them an up-close look at the trucks our lineworkers use every day!

Pete faced his fear of heights with a ride in the bucket truck, and Officer Hamm even took a turn while the kids cheered him on!

Thanks for having us, Fairhope East! We love getting to show our youngest neighbors what our crews do to keep Fairhope's lights on! πŸ’‘

πŸ’§ Imagine turning on the tap and nothing comes out.

No morning coffee. No shower. No flushing the toilet.

Today is , a reminder of just how much we depend on something we often take for granted.

And a big thank-you to our Water Department crews who work every day to keep clean, reliable water flowing throughout Fairhope!

Now we're curious ... what's the FIRST thing you'd miss if you didn't have water for a day?

⚑ Four years of hard work deserves a little recognition!

Today, we celebrated Kaleb Easterwood, Fuller Dorgin and Will Blevins as they reached an important milestone in their journey to becoming lineworkers with Fairhope Public Utilities!

Over the past four years, they've worked through a lineworker training program that combines classroom education with hands-on experience. From installing and repairing power lines to inspecting equipment and learning the ins and outs of our electric system, they've put their training to work right here in Fairhope.

Their next step is completing our internal top-out process, a final evaluation of the skills and knowledge they've developed throughout the program.

We're proud of these three and the dedication they've shown to getting here. Congratulations, guys! πŸ‘βš‘

πŸŒ€ Hurricane Isaias: Storm Recovery Update

As Fairhope continues cleaning up after Hurricane Isaias, here's an update on power restoration, storm debris collection and damage reporting.

⚑ Power Restoration

Approximately 1,300 Fairhope Public Utilities customers lost power during the storm. Our electric crews worked to restore service Friday evening before high winds and dangerous conditions forced them to suspend repairs at 5:15 p.m.

Once conditions improved, crews resumed work Saturday morning, clearing fallen trees from power lines, repairing damaged equipment and resetting utility poles.

Most customers had power restored by noon Saturday, with all service restored by 2 p.m.

πŸ’§ Water, Wastewater & Natural Gas

Good news! Our water, wastewater and natural gas systems made it through Hurricane Isaias without any reported damage or service interruptions.

🌳 Storm Debris Collection

City of Fairhope Public Works, Electric and Landscape crews will be working from sunup to sundown this week to clear storm debris throughout Fairhope.
Crews are starting with Monday's regular collection route and will work their way through the remaining routes. We appreciate your patience as they make their way across the city!

A few important reminders:
- The normal 2.5-cubic-yard collection limit is waived this week for storm debris.
- There is no limit on the amount of storm debris residents can bring to the City landfill this week.
- If you hire a contractor to cut or remove trees, the contractor is responsible for hauling away that debris.

🏠 Storm Damage Reporting

If your home or another structure on your property sustained damage during Hurricane Isaias, please report it to the City of Fairhope Building Department.

Some damage, especially behind homes, may not be visible to inspectors from the street. Reporting it helps the City get a more complete picture of storm impacts.

πŸ“§ Email: [email protected]
πŸ“ž Phone: 251-990-0153

Please note: This reporting is for structural damage only, not damaged fences or downed trees, and applies only to properties within Fairhope city limits.

Not sure if you're in city limits? Check your garbage can! A City of Fairhope crest indicates you're within city limits, while a Baldwin County crest indicates you're in the county's jurisdiction.

πŸ’™ A Special Thank-You

To our City of Fairhope employees who worked before, during and after the storm, thank you. Many spent long hours away from their own homes and families to help take care of our community. We know those sacrifices extend to their families, too, and we're grateful for their support.

And to our residents, thank you for your patience and kindness as our crews continue the cleanup. We're proud to serve the community we call home.
