Fairview Caseyville Township Fire Protection District

09/18/2026

On Friday, September 18, 2026, at approximately 12:20 p.m., the Fairview Fire Department was dispatched to a reported structure fire on Liberty Road.

The first arriving units were on scene within four minutes and found a single-car attached garage on fire with heavy smoke showing. Firefighters quickly brought the fire under control and prevented it from spreading from the garage into the residence. One vehicle was inside the garage at the time of the fire.

Due to the extreme heat conditions, the response was upgraded to bring additional personnel to the scene and provide adequate crew rotation and rehabilitation.

Two residents were home when the fire started. Both safely escaped the residence without injury, along with two pets. There were no injuries to civilians or firefighters.

The Fairview Fire Department was assisted on scene by the French Village Fire Department, Northwest St. Clair County Fire Protection District, O'Fallon Fire Department, Fairview Heights Police, and Abbot Ambulance.

The Collinsville Illinois Fire Department and Signal Hill Fire Department provided station coverage at Fairview fire stations during the incident to ensure continued fire protection and emergency response for the community.

The Fairview Fire Department thanks all responding and covering agencies for their assistance.

At approximately 1:10 p.m. today, the Fairview Fire Department responded to a report of smoke coming from the attic of a residence in the 9600 block of Ridge Heights Road.

The first emergency unit arrived on the scene within four minutes of dispatch, discovering active flames on the exterior of the structure near the roofline. The fire was beginning to spread into the attic.

Firefighters immediately initiated an exterior attack, bringing the fire under control quickly and containing the damage strictly to the roof and attic areas.

Two occupants were inside the home when the fire broke out; both escaped safely and without injury.

Due to extreme outdoor temperatures, additional departments were dispatched to the scene to ensure the safety and proper rotation of firefighting personnel. A robust, multi-agency response followed to assist with scene management and community coverage.

Assisting Agencies Included:
Fairview Heights Police
French Village Fire Department
O’Fallon Fire Department
Signal Hill Fire Department
Northwest Fire Department
MedStar Ambulance

Additionally, the Swansea Fire Department manned a Fairview firehouse during the incident to ensure uninterrupted emergency coverage for the rest of the community.

We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to all of our mutual aid partners and responding departments for their rapid assistance today. Their support was vital in safely extinguishing this fire during these challenging weather conditions.

No civilian or firefighter injuries or fatalities were reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

ATTENTION FAIRVIEW RESIDENTS

It’s that time of year again! The time when we celebrate our nation’s independence by grillin’, chillin’, and trying really hard not to accidentally burn down the neighborhood.

Your friendly Fairview Firefighters love a good celebration, but we also love our time with our families. To help us achieve our dream of eating our grilled burgers while they are actually still hot, please follow our Official Guide to Not Unintentionally Inviting Us to Your Backyard:

The "Illinois" Rule

Let’s address the elephant in the sky. We know some of you took a little road trip across the state line recently. We aren't the police, but we are the guys who have to put out your roof if things go sideways.

Allowed: Sparklers, smoke bombs, and those little tanks that shoot out colored sparks (keep these on flat, concrete surfaces).

Not Allowed: Anything that goes BOOM, anything that flies through the air, and anything purchased out-of-state that makes your garage look like a mu*****ns depot. If it flies, let it fly right out of the Land of Lincoln.

Pro-Tips for Staying Out of the ER

Water, Water, Everywhere: Keep a bucket of water or a garden hose nearby. Douse all fireworks in water before throwing them in the trash. The only thing worse than a firework going off too early is a trash can fire at 2:00 AM.

Alcohol & Explosives Don't Mix: If you’ve had a few adult beverages, hand the lighter to the designated (and sober) backyard pyrotechnician. Trust us on this one.

The "One and Done" Rule: If a firework doesn't go off, do not run up and peek into it like a cartoon character. It is not "sleeping." It is a ticking time bomb. Soak it from a distance and walk away.

Protect the Paws: Your dog doesn't care about freedom as much as you do. The loud noises terrify them. Keep your pets indoors, preferably with some nice, soothing jazz playing.

We want everyone to have an amazing, fun, and safe holiday! Let's keep the fireworks safe, the burgers flipped, and the fire trucks parked.

Stay safe, Fairview!

06/29/2026

Let's rise to the challenge this week! Mother Nature will bring her best, so remember to stay hydrated and take shaded breaks if you're working outdoors, and look out for one another!

06/27/2026

Join us at Fairview Heights City Hall as we commemorate America's 250th birthday, highlighted by a 9:00 pm aerial drone show.

05/24/2026

As we are in the middle of this Memorial Day weekend, your Fairview Firefighters want to take a moment to pause, reflect, and honor the true meaning of this day.

While many of us are firing up the grills, enjoying the sunshine, or spending well-deserved time with family, our hearts are with the brave men and women who never made it back to theirs.

To the soldiers, sailors, airmen, marines, and coast guardsmen who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country, we owe you a debt of gratitude that can never truly be repaid. Your courage is our shield, and your sacrifice is the foundation of our freedom.

As first responders, we understand the sacred vow to protect and serve. We stand in awe of those who took that vow on the global stage and gave their all.

To the Gold Star families in our Fairview Heights community and across the nation: We see you. We honor your pain, and we promise to never let the names of your loved ones fade into history.

This weekend, as you celebrate, please join us in keeping our fallen heroes in your thoughts.

Have a safe, meaningful, and blessed Memorial Day weekend. We have the watch here at home, because they kept the watch for us all. 🇺🇸
