Today, Major County’s budgets were delivered to the Oklahoma State Auditor’s Office at the State Capitol

There are a lot of moving parts behind the scenes during budget season. From preparing and approving budgets to completing the necessary steps for property tax collection and distribution, this process plays an important role in funding our schools, towns, county government, EMS, and other local services.

A big thank you to our Excise Board, County Commissioners, school districts, towns, county officials, and everyone involved throughout this year’s process!

It’s always rewarding to see another budget season successfully come together.

The Major County Excise Board (Byron Hobson, Ryan Sproul, Mitch Zimmerman) and Board of County Commissioners met jointly on Monday to review and sign the Major County budgets as part of the annual budget process.

A big thank you to both boards for the time, attention, and diligence they put into this process. There is a lot that goes on behind the scenes to ensure budgets are reviewed carefully and completed properly, and I appreciate everyone working together to keep the process moving forward.

Once the remaining budgets are signed and the county levies are certified, the completed budgets will be delivered to the State Capitol.

Another step closer to wrapping up budget season!

Another CODA Conference in the books!

This year was a little extra special; I’m incredibly honored to have been nominated and elected to serve as Secretary for the County Clerks & Deputies Association of Oklahoma. I’m grateful for the opportunity and excited to serve.

Major County will always be my priority, and I’m thankful for opportunities that allow me to continue learning, growing, and bringing that experience back home to better serve our county.

This project was truly a labor of love. What looks like new flooring in a few photos represents months of planning, budgeting, coordinating, moving offices, working around courthouse operations, making decisions, solving problems, and a whole lot of behind the scene leg work.

Preserving & improving our courthouse is something we take a lot of pride in, and seeing this project come together has been incredibly rewarding. This building belongs to our entire county and our hope was to make an improvement that not only addressed much needed repairs, but respected the character of the courthouse and will serve Major County for many years to come.

A huge thank you to AE Howard Flooring!! and Chuy’s Tile for the time, craftsmanship, patience, and attention they gave this project. Working inside an active courthouse is no small task, and their crews worked with us every step of the way.

I’m also incredibly thankful for my staff and everyone in the courthouse who worked around the mess, the moving, the closed areas, and all of the temporary inconveniences along the way.

Definitely a project I’m proud to have been a part of 🤍

Over time, paper records naturally become fragile from age and frequent handling. I’ve been working with Kofile to preserve these documents, ensuring they remain protected, accessible, and available for future generations.

These original plat maps are more than historic documents, they’re permanent land records that continue to play an important role in property ownership and development throughout Major County. Once a plat is filed with the County Clerk, it becomes a permanent public record.

This has been one of those projects that’s easy to get excited about because it’s a chance to preserve something that can never truly be replaced.

July 1st marks the beginning of a new fiscal year for county government. While it may seem like just another date on the calendar, it’s an important milestone that closes one fiscal year and begins another year.

During Fiscal Year 25/26 our office accomplished:

4,400 purchase orders processed
1,615 payroll warrants printed
227 county accounts managed
3,070 land record instruments filed

I enjoy sharing these yearly numbers because they provide a glimpse into the work that usually happens behind the scenes. Every purchase order, payroll warrant, account managed, and land record represents a service provided to the citizens of Major County.

I want to recognize the incredible team in the County Clerk’s Office. These accomplishments are a direct reflection of their hard work. I am grateful for each of them. 🫶🏻

Here’s to a successful Fiscal Year 26/27!!

Public Service Announcement:

The Major County Registrar of Deeds Office will be closed to public access for record book viewing from May 18, 2026, through May 22, 2026.

This temporary closure is due to flooring installation within the department. During this time, record books and shelving will be temporarily relocated to allow installers adequate workspace.

Due to operational adjustments, the Land Records Department will continue operating from the main area of the County Clerk’s Office for the limited purpose of processing daily mail and filing documents only.

We understand this may cause inconvenience, and we appreciate your patience as we work to complete these improvements and restore normal operations as quickly as possible.

If you have questions or need assistance, please contact the office at (580) 227-3918. We will do our best to assist with your needs during this time.
