Students in grades 5-12 are invited to apply to serve on the Superintendent and School Board Student Voice Council.

Council members will meet directly with Superintendent Dan Schlotfeldt, School Board members and district leaders to share ideas, provide feedback and help shape conversations about the student experience across SVSD.

It’s a great opportunity to build leadership and communication skills, meet students from across the district, strengthen future college, scholarship and job applications, and make a meaningful impact in our schools. No previous leadership experience or specific GPA is required. We want students with different experiences, backgrounds and perspectives from all our schools.

Applications are open now and will close Friday, October 16, at 5 p.m.

Visit the Student Voice Council webpage to learn more and apply.

We are excited to kick off the second year of our Character Traits program! Throughout the year, students will learn about a positive character trait each month, from compassion to grit, with a focus on building important life skills that contribute to lifelong wellness and success. Each month, 3–4 students from every class at each grade level will be recognized for demonstrating the featured trait in their daily actions, celebrated, and photographed. Check back throughout the school year as we highlight and explore each new character trait!

🌟 September Character Trait: RESPECT 🌟

In September, our FCES Falcons focused on Respect—thinking and acting in a positive way about yourself and others.

Respect can look like:
âś… Using kind words and listening when others are speaking
âś… Taking care of our school and shared spaces
âś… Treating others the way you would like to be treated
âś… Believing in yourself and making positive choices

Let’s all practice showing respect—in our words, our actions, and the way we treat ourselves and others—every day!
