Building Lifesaving Skills Across FRPS
Sometimes the biggest plays you’ll ever make are the ones that save a life.
On National Start the Heart Day, Fall River Public Schools welcomed representatives from the New England Patriots and the American Heart Association for a special CPR training and equipment donation. Thanks to their generosity, all 18 FRPS schools received CPR training kits.
One PE teacher from each school participated in hands-on professional development, learning to recognize cardiac emergencies, perform hands-only CPR, and use an AED. Starting later this fall, FRPS students in grades four through nine will also learn these important, potentially lifesaving skills.
FRPS Director of Health and Physical Education Dan Fitzgerald highlighted the importance of teaching students skills they can carry with them throughout their lives.
The event also welcomed Patriots front office staff, cheerleaders, Pat Patriot, and former Patriots linebacker and Pro Football Hall of Famer Andre Tippett, the team's Executive Director of Community Affairs. Deputy Superintendent Liz Legault and School Committee members Stewart and Dias also attended.
We’re grateful to the Kraft family, the New England Patriots, the New England Patriots Foundation, and the American Heart Association for investing in our schools and helping equip our educators and students with the knowledge, confidence, and tools to help save lives.
