We had such a fun night at our Book Fair and Family night last night!! Thank you to everyone who came. We had a total of 411 people in attendance! We had a Pirate theme and a lot of our teachers dressed up for the event and fun pirate activities and games were provided while the Book Fair was happening in the library.

An APPLE-solutely fun week of learning at Lahontan! 🍎🍏

Kindergarten students in Jennifer Vasquez's class have been busy exploring all things APPLES, and they got to mix a little science, math, and taste testing into the fun! 🤩

🔬 Science: Will an apple float or sink? Students put their predictions to the test with a hands-on experiment!

📊 Math: Red, yellow, or green? Students graphed their favorite apple varieties to see which came out on top!

😋 Taste Testing: Strawberry, cinnamon, or regular? Students sampled different applesauce flavors and shared their favorites!

Along the way, they also learned all about the life cycle of an apple, from seed to fruit!

Who knew one little apple could lead to so much learning?! 🍎❤️

Mrs. Sorensen’s first graders put science into action by making their own slime! Students mixed different ingredients together and watched what happened as they combined them, giving them a hands-on way to explore reactions and changes.

And the hands-on learning didn’t stop there! 🍎 Students also wrapped up their apple unit by making homemade applesauce, bringing what they’ve been learning about apples to life in a pretty tasty way.

Slime AND applesauce? We’d say that was a pretty fun week of learning in first grade! 🩵

👅 And, most importantly... what do you TASTE?! 🍿😋

Mrs. Stanford’s kindergarteners put all five senses to work during their science unit this week! Students created their own five senses booklets, added them to their classroom learning wall, and wrapped it all up with POPCORN! 🍿

They watched it pop, listened to the sounds, smelled the fresh popcorn, and came up with all kinds of adjectives to describe it before finally getting to taste it!

And because it was Yellow Day, they washed it all down with homemade lemonade! 🍋💛

Science is pretty fun when you can eat the lesson! 😉

Dribble, pass, shoot! ⚽🥅

Lahontan students have been on the move in Mrs. Rhoades’ PE class while working on their gross motor skills and learning the fundamentals of soccer! Students have practiced dribbling, passing, and shooting while taking their soccer skills both indoors and outside! ☀

We love how Mrs. Rhoades makes PE fun, active, and engaging while making sure every student feels included, respected, and valued! 🫶

Learning new skills, staying active, and having fun while doing it. That’s what PE at Lahontan is all about! 🙌
