There is more than one “right” way to parent. Keeping children safe, showing affection, listening, providing consistency, and setting limits and boundaries are some of the key elements of good parenting.
Learn more below and at https://medlineplus.gov/parenting.html

The way we parent can shape how our children experience discipline, encouragement, confidence, and connection.

There are four common parenting styles:

Authoritarian parents emphasize control and discipline, but may offer limited warmth. They might punish poor grades while overlooking achievements.

Permissive parents are warm and responsive but set few boundaries. They may accept any grade without addressing the habits or behaviors that could help their child improve.

Neglectful parents provide little guidance, discipline, warmth, or involvement. They may show minimal interest in their child’s schoolwork or overall development.

Authoritative parents combine clear expectations with love, support, and communication. They celebrate good grades while using thoughtful discipline and guidance to help their child grow from challenges.

No parent gets it right all the time. The goal isn’t perfection; it’s awareness. Our children need both boundaries and belonging, accountability and encouragement, structure and love.

The question isn’t, “What kind of parent are you forever?”
It’s, “What does my child need from me today?”
