This week, as Churchill County High School football players prepared for Senior Night, they had the opportunity to recognize the teachers who have made a difference in their lives. We were especially excited to see two familiar ECB faces among those honored! 💚

🏈 Aimee Bell was recognized by Rylan Clark, Avery DeAloia, Dion Gocong, and Ryan Toombs.

🏈 Kari Lister was recognized by Maxton Richardson.

For elementary teachers, it’s not every day that they get to see just how much of an impact they’ve had on students years after they’ve moved on. To have these young men return and recognize the people who helped shape their early school experiences makes these moments even more meaningful!

Congratulations to Mrs. Bell and Mrs. Lister! What a wonderful reminder that the difference you make in the lives of your students extends far beyond their time at E.C. Best! ❤️

Our second graders in Ms. Manning’s class are becoming sound superstars! 🌟🗣️ They’re building their phonological awareness by learning to hear, recognize, and play with the sounds in spoken words. From rhyming words to blending sounds together, these skills are helping our students build a strong foundation for reading and writing! 📚✏️

Students are earning Bulldog Bucks for showing what it means to follow the 4 B's!

💙 Be Safe

When staff see students putting these expectations into action, they can reward them with Bulldog Bucks! 🎉

And the best part? Students get to decide how to use them! They can spend their Bucks on items in the Bulldog Buck Store OR enter them into monthly raffle drawings for a chance to win special prizes! 🎟️

The raffle prizes change each month and can include fun experiences like lunch with the principal! Students simply drop their Bulldog Bucks into the box for the prize they'd like a chance to win.

It's a fun way to recognize positive choices while encouraging students to keep practicing the 4 B's throughout their school day! 🐾❤️💛💙

Showing what we know!! 🧠✨
This week, Mrs. Mayfield’s amazing students are diving deep into HOW multiplication works! Instead of just memorizing facts, they are becoming math detectives and proving their answers using two awesome tools:
🎨 Arrays (rows and columns)
🏀 Equal Groups
By drawing out their thinking, they aren't just getting the right answers—they are building a super strong foundation for harder math down the road. 🚀
Check out some of their incredible work! Ask your student tonight if they can show you how to build an array or equal groups for a tricky problem. You might be surprised by how much of a math whiz they already are! 🎒✏️

E. C. Best second graders headed to Lattin Farms for a “maze”-ing adventure through the pumpkin patch! 🌽🎃
Check out these classes as they explored, laughed, learned, and enjoyed a beautiful day outdoors! The kids had an absolute blast navigating a mini hay bale maze, playing in the corn boxes, and visiting all the animals! 🍁☀️🐐
There’s nothing better than learning beyond the classroom—especially when pumpkins, critters, and a mini maze are involved! 🧡📚🎃

More like booky season! 📚🤣
Tonight, our ECBest family proved that there is absolutely nothing scary about diving into a great story! We celebrated our annual Family Literacy Night with the ultimate cozy theme: “Don’t get Scared! Fall into great Books!”

We whipped up some serious heat with our annual chili cook-off 🌶️, scored some literary treasures at the book fair, and leveled up our reading skills with a ton of super fun literacy games. From full bellies to full bookshelves, it was an absolute blast for everyone!

Two letters, one sound! 📚🔤

Second graders in Mrs. Fruzza’s class at E.C. Best are building their reading skills by learning all about digraphs! Students are practicing recognizing two letters that come together to make one sound, like “ch” in “chair.”

It may seem like a small step, but recognizing digraphs helps students read words more quickly and fluently. The more fluent they become, the more they can focus on the best part of reading, understanding the story and making meaning from what they read! ❤️

These second graders are becoming stronger, more confident readers one sound at a time! 📖

Sometimes, the field just needs to be… well, a FIELD! ⚽️😄
But when it’s game time, E. C. Best students are loving the new soccer goals installed this fall! ⚽️🥅 We’re kicking, running, playing, and growing stronger every day!

A BIG thank-you to Mr. Cooper, the School Board, and our Maintenance Department for supporting our students’ physical growth and giving them even more ways to get moving! 💪❤️

A little calm music, a little cursive and a little “controlled chaos” ✏️🎶

That’s how mornings get started in Mrs. Faiman’s class! Students begin with morning work that brings back skills they’ve already learned, while Whole Brain Teaching strategies keep them moving, thinking, talking and actively engaged throughout the day.

It might get a little loud, but there’s a lot of learning happening along the way as students have fun and take ownership of their learning! 💛
