Stranded on Survival Island! 🌴
Fifth graders in Kristina Lee’s class at Numa found themselves in quite the adventure as they took on the role of early explorers tasked with building settlements and surviving on “Survival Island!”
Working in explorer teams, students were given resource tokens to purchase their starting supplies. But those supplies wouldn't last forever! They had to study the island's geography, figure out where they could access natural resources, and decide on the best locations to build their settlements.
And just when they thought they had it all figured out, they had to navigate challenges and natural disasters that threatened their survival! 🌪️
Behind all the fun, students were learning how geography and natural resources influenced early exploration and settlement while putting their teamwork, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills to the test.
The big question... would YOUR settlement survive Survival Island? 🏝️💚💛
