A big day for Kentucky agriculture, and Pendleton County was glad to be there for it!

Two members of our Agricultural Development Council joined County Extension Agent Lindie Huffman for the opening of UKโ€™s new Meats and Foods Industry Advancement Center.

A little full-circle moment for , who worked in the UK Meats Lab as an undergraduate student!

Then it was back on the road to make it home just in time for tonightโ€™s Pendleton County Agricultural Development Council meeting.

From celebrating whatโ€™s ahead for Kentucky agriculture to getting back home and doing the work locally. Thatโ€™s a pretty good day in Extension!

We kicked off another exciting year of FlowerBuds today, and this year our focus is EMOTIONS! ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜ข๐Ÿ˜ก๐Ÿ˜จ๐Ÿฅฐ
Today our youth created their own emotion craft, read our first book introducing us to our Spot emotions, and practiced recognizing the different faces we make when expressing how we feel.
Throughout the year, weโ€™ll be helping our FlowerBuds learn that all emotions are okayโ€”and giving them age-appropriate tools to recognize, name, understand, and manage those big feelings when they come.
Learning to talk about emotions at a young age helps children build communication skills, empathy, self-awareness, and healthy ways to handle their feelings. โค๏ธ
We had lots of smiles, learning, creativity, and maybe a few silly emotion faces along the way! ๐Ÿ˜œ
We canโ€™t wait to see where this year takes our little FlowerBuds as we learn that sometimes our feelings may be BIGโ€”but we can learn what to do with them! ๐ŸŒธโค๏ธ

Please join us on Sunday, September 20th at 4:00 PM as we continue to "Preserve Southern Traditions" at the 15th Annual Pendleton County 4-H Country Ham Dinner and Auction.

The dinner will take place at the Pendleton County Extension Office and will include delicious country ham, cured in-house by our 4-H'ers! Various sides, desserts, and drinks will be served, as well. All interested Buyers, 4-Hers, Family Members, Caregivers, Support Teams, and other Community Members are invited!

Nine days goes faster than you think.
โ€œWe canโ€™t believe itโ€™s overโ€ has been heard more than a few times as this Pendleton County crew makes the final stretch home.
What started as a journey west to experience American icons, agriculture, history, culture, and some truly brilliant landscapes became something even bigger. It became a journey in building community.
One of our travelers summed it up perfectly:
โ€œWe just take care of each other, donโ€™t we? Thatโ€™s pretty cool.โ€
Yes. We do. ๐Ÿ’™
Weโ€™ve seen new things, opened our minds, asked questions, learned pieces of the American story, shared our own stories, laughed a LOT, made memories, and encouraged each other to do hard things.
And today, all good things came to an end at an icon of beginnings: the Gateway Arch.
What an incredible feat of engineering and a fitting place to close our journey west. For some, going 630 feet up meant facing fears and pushing through some real discomfort. But that has been part of this adventure too. Try something new. Be curious. Do the hard thing. And take care of each other along the way.
Nine days. Eight states. Thousands of miles.
But the best part of this journey might just be the community weโ€™re bringing home.

BBQ pits. Boots. Bologna. Brewery. And a Clydesdale. Just another day on the road. ๐Ÿ˜‚

We rolled out of Omaha and into Kansas City for legendary Jack Stack BBQ, where a few of our BBQ aficionados scored a VIP look at the pits. ๐Ÿ”ฅ

Then it was on to Craneโ€™s Country Store, celebrating 100 years of โ€œBoots, Bullets, Britches & Bologna,โ€ before rolling into St. Louis for Anheuser-Busch, a little brewing history, and one very special dinner guestโ€ฆ a Budweiser Clydesdale. ๐Ÿด

Nine days. Eight states. Thousands of miles. A whole lot of learning, laughing, exploring, and memories made along the way.

Weโ€™re winding down, but weโ€™re not home yet. One more stretch of road to go. ๐Ÿ’™
