🍂 As the leaves start falling, so do our Meals on Wheels volunteer numbers. We need your help!

Over 1,200 seniors in our area rely on Valley Senior Services volunteers each day for a nutritious meal and a friendly hello. 👋

Volunteering takes just one hour of your day, and with five convenient pickup sites throughout Fargo and West Fargo, it’s easy to help during your lunch break. Choose a weekly or every-other-week schedule that works for you!

Parking lot construction begins Monday, September 28 at Broadway Station.

The concrete parking lot at Broadway Station Meal Center will be replaced in two phases. Work will begin on the south side of the building (yellow area on the map) and then move around the building.

Each phase will take a few days, followed by additional days for the concrete to cure. At least one parking lot entrance will remain open throughout the project. Sidewalks will remain accessible during construction. The project is expected to be completed within two weeks, weather permitting. Garbage containers may be temporarily moved during construction.

Please plan for some changes to parking while the work is underway. Tenants and employees are encouraged to park on nearby side streets when possible so there is more parking available for meal center customers and clients.

🍂 Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Fall Senior Picnic! We enjoyed a wonderful afternoon of good food, bingo and time spent together.

A special thank you to Benedict's Morning Heroes for donating gift cards for our bingo prizes. We appreciate their support and all they do to help make events like this possible.

We’re also grateful to the Fargo Park District team for creating opportunities for older adults to stay active, connected and engaged in our community.

💉 Upcoming Vaccination Clinics

VSS will be hosting Cass County Public Health to provide vaccination clinics at our senior centers. We would like to share this on the VSS page to promote attendance. Please include the details below:

Older adults are at higher risk of serious illness from respiratory illnesses like influenza and COVID-19, making vaccination an important part of staying healthy during respiratory virus season. Keeping up to date on recommended vaccines can help reduce the risk of severe illness and hospitalization. Fargo Cass Public Health will offer influenza and COVID-19 vaccines at upcoming immunization clinics, making it easy to get protected.

These are walk-in clinics, meaning appointments are not necessary. Individuals are encouraged to bring health insurance or Medicare cards.

It's never too early to learn the value of helping others. 💙

Earlier this month, our Meals on Wheels volunteer, Tracey, brought along her 8-year-old grandson to help deliver meals to local seniors. Together, they shared nutritious meals, friendly visits, and plenty of smiles along the way!
