Faribault Parks and Recreation

Yesterday was a BIG day down at Viaduct Park. Phase Two is starting to come to life.

We can’t wait to continue serving our community in NEW and EXCITING ways.

This 10,000-square-foot, all-season covered pad will be home to a refrigerated ice-skating surface in the winter, and a shaded public space for MANY events, rentals and pop-up programs during the warmer months.

We’re excited to have Viaduct Park continue serving as a community gathering area for years to come.

TIME TO WINTERIZE: With the flip of the calendar tomorrow (Oct. 1), the Faribault Parks and Recreation Department will begin winterizing the many amenities across our park system.

This means crews will be draining and shutting off water to the many bathroom facilities and park shelters to avoid the costly repairs of damaged water lines.

Most of our park system facilities do not have heat, making them increasingly susceptible as temperatures begin to drop.

The Parks Division starts this winterizing process in early October every year, and all bathroom facilities and shelters are generally re-opened around May 1.
