The Farmington VFD is proud to announce the addition of a SECOND rescue boat to our water rescue team.
While our larger rescue boat remains an important part of our water rescue capabilities, it is equipped with an outboard motor and will be utilized where a motorized boat is needed. Our new, smaller boat gives our crews another option when the conditions or the location of an incident become remote and harder to access.
The smaller boat can be rowed without a motor, allowing crews to operate it in:
• Flood waters close to homes and structures
• Narrow or confined spaces
• Shallow water where a motorized boat may be difficult to maneuver
• Areas with excessive debris or other obstacles
• Situations or locations where a smaller, more maneuverable boat is needed
Crews can now split resources in order to handle multiple water rescues at one time. This smaller boat can be carried by just two people making it ideal for incidents where a truck and trailer may not be able to travel.
Having both boats allows us to select the right equipment for the situation instead of relying on one boat for every type of water rescue.
This addition strengthens our ability to reach people who may otherwise be difficult to access during flooding, swift water incidents, and other water emergencies.
We are continually working to improve our equipment and training so that when our community needs us, Farmington VFD is prepared to respond.
Two boats. Two options.
Better access. Better outcomes.
