⚠️ SCAM ALERT

A member of our community reached out to us after receiving a call from someone claiming to be a Davis County Sheriff’s deputy.

The caller told her she had a warrant for “contempt of court” and needed to pay $3,500 over the phone to put the warrant on hold.

Thankfully, she recognized the red flags — and we appreciate her taking the time to share her experience so we can help warn others.

Davis County Sheriff’s Office will never call you and demand payment over the phone to clear a warrant.

Scammers can also spoof phone numbers, making a call appear to come from a legitimate local number or law enforcement agency.

If you receive a call like this:

• Don’t provide personal or financial information
• Don’t send money or purchase gift cards
• Hang up
• Contact the our office directly using a verified phone number

Please share this with friends and family — especially anyone who may be more vulnerable to these types of calls. A quick conversation could keep someone from becoming a victim.

There are few moments more meaningful than recognizing the people who choose to serve — and celebrating those who continue to grow in their careers at the Davis County Sheriff’s Office.

Recently, we had the opportunity to recognize new members of our team following their completion of POST, welcome lateral hires, and celebrate the promotions of:

• Captain Johnson
• Sergeant Seifert
• Corporal Abarca
• Corporal Kelly

Each badge and new rank represents more than a title. It reflects training, hard work, leadership and a commitment to serving the people of Davis County.

We’re grateful to the family members, friends and colleagues who joined us for the ceremony and who support our employees throughout their careers.

Congratulations to each of you on this next chapter. We’re excited to see where it takes you.

🚔 YOU ASK. WE ANSWER.

What's something you've always wanted to ask us?

Maybe it’s:

📱 How do I keep my kids safer online?

🚨 When should I call 911 vs. non-emergency dispatch?

🏠 What actually counts as suspicious activity?

💳 How can I tell if a call or text is a scam?

🚔 What really happens when I call for a deputy?

🐕 What does a K9 actually do?

Or maybe it’s something completely different.

Drop your question below. 👇

We’ll take your questions to our deputies, detectives, SROs, dispatch partners and other experts and answer as many as we can in upcoming posts.

No question is too basic. If you’re wondering about it, chances are one of your neighbors is too.

🌧️ A Flood Watch is in effect for Davis County this weekend.

A significant storm system is moving into Utah, bringing periods of heavy rain, thunderstorms and gusty winds. The National Weather Service is forecasting widespread rainfall through the weekend, with the heaviest precipitation expected Sunday into Monday.

Before the heavier rain arrives:

• Clear leaves and debris from gutters, downspouts and storm drains
• Avoid streams, creeks and drainage areas as water levels rise
• Slow down on wet roads and never drive through floodwater — Turn Around, Don’t Drown
• Keep an eye on weather alerts and changing conditions

We’ve included FEMA flood and thunderstorm safety information with this post. Take a few minutes to review it with your family and stay weather aware this weekend.

Stay safe, Davis County. ⛈️

The best part of the job? Getting out into our community. 💙

Over at West Point Elementary, Deputy Schumacher traded the halls of West Point Junior High for story time with a second-grade class. 📚

Detectives Fisher and Pyles recently stopped by The Attic Schoolhouse in South Weand some safety lessons with a few of our youngest community members. 🚲

These are the moments we love — getting out, having some fun and building connections with the communities we serve.

Thanks for having us!

🎯 BEAT THE CHIEF

Think you’ve got what it takes?

Each year, deputies who shoot a perfect score during semiannual fi****ms qualifications earn a spot in our annual Beat the Chief competition.

Then it’s time to put those skills to the test. Accuracy. Speed. Tactics. Safety. And, of course, a little friendly competition with the Chief. 👀

Here’s a look at this year’s course in action—and some of the training and skills our deputies work to maintain throughout the year.

Nice shooting, everyone. 👏

Training note: Our range repurposes donated and discarded materials, including old signs and boards, for target backers. Any names, organizations or messaging visible on those materials are incidental and are not associated with or targeted by the Davis County Sheriff’s Office.

We couldn't be more excited to celebrate two of our own! 👏🏼

Sergeant Seifert has been named the Utah Sheriff's Association Corrections Officer of the Year, and Cynthia Archbold has been named Dispatcher of the Year!

These awards recognize what we already get to see firsthand—their dedication, professionalism and commitment to the people they serve.

Congratulations! This recognition is well deserved.

The Davis County Sheriff's Office is home to two of this year’s Utah Sheriffs’ Association award recipients! Corporal Gwen Seifert was named Corrections Officer of the Year, and Cynthia Archbold was named Dispatcher of the Year.

Their work reaches different parts of the Sheriff’s Office, but both have made a lasting difference through their dedication to public safety and the people they serve. We’re proud to recognize them and will share more about each recipient.

Photo: Corporal Seifert’s attention to detail has helped keep drugs and other dangerous contraband out of the jail. She follows investigations through, develops strong criminal cases and continually looks for ways to make the facility safer and more efficient.

She also serves on the Honor Guard and as the Corrections TAC, the point of contact for criminal justice information systems. Whether carrying out her daily duties or volunteering to support her colleagues, Corporal Seifert brings care and commitment to her work. Please join us in congratulating her on this well-deserved honor!
