Farmington Volunteer Fire Association Views are those of the person posting not of the department. We operate by an automatic box alarm system for all structure fires within our district.

Founded in 1948, the Farmington Volunteer Fire Association, Division II, Battalion 9, is a 100% volunteer fire department located in the northwest corner of Ontario County. The department provides fire and rescue services within the Town of Farmington while providing Mutual Aid to the surrounding towns of Canandaigua, Macedon, Manchester and Victor. Due to our location in the county we also have Mutual Aid Agreements with our neighboring counties of Monroe and Wayne. With an urban, suburban and agricultural response coverage area of approximately 36 square miles, the department protects a resident population of over 10,000. The diversified district the department covers is comprised of single family dwellings, multiple occupancy apartments, townhouses, farms, industrial facilities, business and office parks, commercial and retail centers and complexes, and the Finger Lakes Casino and Race Track, The department also covers 7 miles of The New York State Thruway, (Interstate 90), with an additional 3 more miles under Mutual Aid.

Thank you to Manchester Fire Department for joining us and to Alpco for hosting another fantastic training!

This week, our members continued the vehicle extrication training they began last week, focusing on stabilization and extrication techniques through a variety of scenarios we have encountered in the past.

Training nights like these allow our members to sharpen their skills, build confidence, and stay prepared to handle whatever call comes our way. We’re proud to continue developing our craft so we can better serve the residents of Farmington and those traveling along the NYS Thruway.

Thank you again to everyone who helped make this training possible!

This weekend, six of our members attended Old Forge Drill School, participating in a variety of informative seminars focused on the many aspects of the fire service.

While hands-on training is an important part of preparing our firefighters, education extends far beyond the fireground. Our members had the opportunity to learn about topics including:

• Cancer awareness and prevention in the
fire service
• Firefighter health, wellness, and taking
care of yourself
• The importance of being proud of the
fire service and remembering that being
a firefighter extends beyond the calls
we answer
• Su***de awareness and prevention
within the fire service
• Responding safely to electrical
emergencies
• The responsibilities and challenges of
operating from the officer’s seat

Our members returned with valuable knowledge and a greater understanding of the challenges facing today’s fire service.

Training doesn’t stop when we leave the firehouse. We are committed to continuously learning, improving, and preparing our members to safely and effectively serve our community.

Thank you to Old Forge Drill School for providing these valuable training opportunities and to our members for dedicating their time to becoming better firefighters and leaders. 🚒🔥

September 11, 2001.

2,977 lives lost.
343 FDNY firefighters and paramedics.
23 NYPD officers.
37 Port Authority Police officers.
Nearly 1,000 firefighters answered the call at the World Trade Center.

They ran toward the danger while others were running away.

25 years later, we remember the lives lost, the heroes who answered the call, the survivors, and the countless families and first responders whose lives were forever changed.

We remember. We honor. We will never forget. 🇺🇸
