Grateful and humbled to receive the endorsement of Newsday's editorial board!

"DeRiggi-Whitton, a Glen Cove Democrat, is a persistent force, standing up to actions she opposes and meeting her constituents' needs.

And she has a vision for the future. DeRiggi-Whitton, pictures a time when the legislature is "more rational," when opioid settlement dollars are distributed, the special deputy sheriff program ends, officials tackle the assessment system, and every district gets its funding for special projects.

DeRiggi-Whitton is the experienced leader the district and county need now. Newsday Opinion endorses DeRiggi-Whitton."

Your Tax Dollars. Your County Clerk.
Vincent Puleo makes more than $220,000 a year as Suffolk County Clerk, but the Clerk’s office performance got worse during his term. He gave Conservative Party chair Mike Torres the chief deputy job at a base salary of more than $147,000, and word on the street is Torres doesn’t show. Newsday reported Puleo owns a strip mall with a foot spa tied to alleged s*x acts. And there is only one name on the ballot to guarantee Puleo’s re-election.
That is why I am running as a write in. Voters deserve a choice. Voters deserve not to pay these two over $1 million during another 4-year term.
Early voting starts October 24 and Election Day is November 3. We win if enough people know by Election Day. Chip in at the link in bio, or learn more at www.WriteInAbigailField.com

Rookie neophyte mistake. Local Civic groups do this for Republicans and Democrats should avoid GOP illegality too. They should not support any candidate.

Her chief of staff needs to be careful. A Long Island nonprofit hosted and promoted a fundraiser for a Democratic state lawmaker’s campaign — a move that appears to violate federal laws for tax-exempt entities, The Post has learned.

Registered 501(c)(3) Long Island Youth Development Inc. held an Oct. 3 event for Assemblywoman Rebecca Kassay (D-Suffolk County), according to a social media post that urged its followers to “do all we can to support her and care for our communities.”

“Join us as we hold a reception to celebrate the contributions Assemblywoman Rebecca Kassay has had to the Long Island Youth Development organization and the asian community on Long Island,” the post read.

Research Center polling finalized this weekend reinforces this spreading financial anxiety. Its latest tracking shows that 42% of Americans rate national economic conditions as outright "poor," while only 21% view them as excellent or good.

Strikingly, economic optimism is also eroding among the president's own party; the share of Republicans who view the economy favorably has dropped from 49% in January to just 36% this month

The University of Michigan's preliminary October Consumer Sentiment Index cratered to a multi-decade low of 46.3, according to data analyzed by Macrobond. This reading lands below the worst depths of the 2008–2009 Great Recession and the 2022 post-pandemic inflation crisis.

Economists note a glaring disconnect in the midterm narrative: while the physical job market remains structurally strong with unemployment at roughly 4%, acute day-to-day inflation has left households feeling uniquely punished.

Fresh macroeconomic data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics has thrown a wrench into late-stage GOP campaign messaging. The Consumer Price Index (CPI) report showed annualized inflation climbing to 3.7% in September, driven relentlessly by energy disruptions stemming from the ongoing war with Iran.

Wholesale prices also registered their highest monthly jump in over four years, ensuring that retail price pressures will persist well past Election Day.

A simultaneous Washington Post-ABC News-Ipsos poll found a historic deficit for the incumbent party on core fiscal management. For the first time since 2014, registered voters trust Democrats over Republicans to handle the overall economy by a margin of 40% to 33%.

The poll also found that 66% of Americans view Trump as "too extreme," and an equal percentage believe he has used the presidency to improperly enrich himself.

A new national NBC News Decision Desk Poll powered by SurveyMonkey reveals that the "right track" direction of the country has plummeted into the 20% range for the first time in Trump's second term.

The poll shows the president's approval rating hitting a second-term low of 34%, while his disapproval has climbed to 66%. A 51% majority of respondents reported that they "strongly disapprove" of his performance, indicating a sharply pessimistic national mood that threatens down-ballot Republicans
