This morning, members of our team had the privilege of talking with 120+ Prince Edward County Public Schools kindergarten students as part of Community Helpers Day.

We talked about ambulances, helping others, doctors, the equipment and so much more—their little, bright minds covered it all and then some.

We loved spending time and connecting with the littlest Eagles in our county!

A huge thank you to Heritage Baptist Church for helping to feed our providers on this hot and busy day! Your support means so much to our crews. ❤️

☀️ Heat Safety Fact: Your body can lose its ability to cool itself during extreme heat, and heat stroke can cause permanent organ damage if not treated quickly.

🚑 Know the Signs: Confusion, altered mental status, hot skin, and/or a body temperature of 104°F or higher can be signs of heat stroke. Call 911 immediately if you suspect someone is experiencing heat stroke.

💧Stay cool. Stay hydrated. Take breaks from the heat, and don't forget to check on your neighbors, family, and friends.

Stay safe out there!

Congratulations to our very own Neil Miller for his recent promotion to serve as our C-Shift Crew Chief!

Neil has been an EMT-B provider with our agency since November 2021, first as a Volunteer and then as a paid provider before graduating from Longwood in May 2025 with a bachelors degree in business administration. While at Longwood, Neil served in a variety of leadership roles, including as President of the Student Government Association, making him Student Body President.

After graduation, Neil worked for MMT Ambulance doing BLS transport services, before coming back to Farmville to work for his home agency full-time in March 2026. Since returning, Neil has once again proven himself an invaluable member of the PEVRS family, taking on additional responsibilities as a Training Specialist and Fleet Specialist, where he has continued earning the respect and admiration of our paid and volunteer providers.

Please join us in congratulating Neil on his well-earned promotion and thanking him for his consistent and selfless service to the Heart of Virginia! 🚑👏
