This past weekend, Firefighter Haug, Lieutenant Stimpson, and Sergeant Whaley represented the Farmville Fire Department at the Southside Virginia Volunteer Firefighters Association 2026 Regional School, where they attended an Elevator Rescue class.

The class provided a great combination of classroom instruction and hands on training focused on safely responding to elevator emergencies, understanding elevator systems and components, accessing stalled elevators, and safely removing occupants during rescue situations.

It was a great class and an excellent opportunity for our members to expand their knowledge, practice specialized rescue techniques, and gain valuable hands on experience that they can bring back to our department.

We appreciate the instructors and everyone involved with the Southside Virginia Volunteer Firefighters Association Regional School for providing another great training opportunity. Continuing to train in specialized areas helps ensure our members are prepared for the wide variety of emergencies we may be called upon to handle.

Always Training. Always Learning. Always Ready.
