Rescue 98 responded to Shenango Township last night to assist their fire department on a motor vehicle accident with possible entrapment. Shenango units arrived on scene and confirmed negative entrapment but had our unit continue into the scene to assist with a large debris field. We remained on scene for about 30 minutes but during that time off duty personnel manned the Farrell fire station to ensure continued, seamless protection for the City of Farrell. These partnerships with our neighboring communities help ensure everyone’s safety.

Today Chief Renner , Assistant Chief Laird, and Captain Palestro had the opportunity to attend the HopeCat center and meet the EMT class. It was an honor to meet this young group of future first responders. Good luck students

Tonight we had the privilege of honoring the memories of the 343 firefighters, as well as the other responders and innocent civilians, who lost their lives on September 11th, 2001 with our 1st 9/11 Stair Climb. It is important to never forget the sacrifices made that day, and the lives lost since, because of that fateful morning.

The turnout was amazing and we are so appreciative of the support. We would be remiss if we did not acknowledge those who helped organize and make this event possible. First and foremost, Firefighter Jack Gates and Sergeant Monica Rose. They worked to set this up and make it happen. The City Of Farrell, Pa and City manager, Shawn Anderson. The staff and school board at the Farrell School District. All the donors who supplied drinks and snacks. And most importantly, the first responders and citizens who came out to honor and remember.

We are already planning our next event and look forward to seeing everyone there again, and more!!

Not just a phrase but a solemn promise.

Saturday morning, Captain Joe Varga, Firefighter Jared Clemente, and Firefighter Jack Gates participated in the Mercer County Food Bank’s Pie Day 5K at Linden Point. Along with these members were several Farrell police officers, and several other city workers, including Mayor Doss.

We’d like to congratulate them on their achievement in not only completing the 5K but also for bringing home some hardware and recognition. Firefighters Clemente and Gates placed 1st in their respective age group, while Captain Varga placed 2nd in his group. As a whole, the City of Farrell also won the award for the largest team, plus several of the police officers received medals for placing in their age group.
