My Wife

Today is mine and Hannah’s wedding anniversary, When we were deciding if I should run for office or not a lot of people told us that it is harder on the spouse than the candidate and I agree, so I wanted to take some time to show my immense appreciation for everything she does.

The campaign has been very difficult on my whole family. We have lost a lot of time together and been more stressed and exhausted than ever before. Then my son passed away in the middle of everything else that was going on and made it even harder.

She is my wife, mother of my children, campaign manager, my best friend, life coach and soulmate. None of this would have been possible without her by my side. She has always been my #1 supporter and encouraged me to believe in myself and chase my dreams. All at the same time she was sacrificing her dreams to raise our son.

She is so beautiful, smart, funny, creative, loving, kind, thoughtful and giving. I am so honored to call her my wife and will look back when we are old and retired at all the struggles and successes and be thankful she was there by my side the whole time and know that we have built a life together that we are proud of.

Happy Anniversary, Hannah. I love you very much.

Pro-Business

Missouri should be investing in Missouri based businesses and growing wealth within the state that can be re-invested here. I don’t like seeing multinational corporations and huge out-of-state businesses getting state tax breaks and then pushing local businesses out of business.

Herzog is portrayed as a villain by many people on the left and I am against using taxpayer money for private school vouchers. I have never met any of their upper management and I don’t know exactly how intertwined Herzog the company and foundation are, but they are a very large business and employer based in this community. I want to work with all members of the community to find solutions that work for everyone.

I would like to meet the local business owners and hear what they need from a State Representative and see what we align on and where I can help if elected. Maybe it’s because I have never done anything political before and am just naïve but I think I can help these local businesses succeed without compromising my integrity and principles. If local businesses are successful and bring good paying jobs to this area and are helping this community grow and prosper I want to help them. I want to help this community be more successful and I would think they would want that too. They are living here and so are their employees.

Better schools will lead to more educated employees and more success for everyone. I do not mind private schools at all, but not having great public schools hurts the long term success of this community and by extension I would think will hurt the businesses.

When people are choosing where to live they want good schools, safe neighborhoods, convenience to amenities and high-paying jobs. They also don’t want to live right next to a huge data center. I want to work with everyone to achieve these goals and bring prosperity to Saint Joseph.

Bentonville, Arkansas is where Wal-Mart and Sam’s Club are headquartered and the Walton Family has invested heavily into the community to make it a great place to live and the city is thriving. They wanted high quality smart people to move there and work for them so they made the town into a place where people want to live. Local leaders have to have a role and be the driving force of positive change. The government should help facilitate that change and work together to bring success to everyone in this community.

Rural America

I grew up living in the country on my family’s farm, but I didn’t appreciate it or realize how much I enjoyed it until living in the city and the suburbs. I really missed it and am thankful I was able to move back. I like living in a small town and going to a small school. I enjoy the sense of community that comes with it. Where my kids can go to school whose parents I went to school with and same with their grandparents and great-grandparents. We have a shared generational experience that bonds us even if we don’t realize it at the time.

I had so much fun as a kid having the freedom of being able to hunt, fish, ride four wheelers and dirt bikes whenever I wanted. Have bonfires. I could walk through the woods and creek to my grandparents’ house. I built my work ethic in a wheat field on the hottest days of the year.

Most people in rural communities are Republican voters, but it wasn’t always that way. Missouri was a much more Democratic state until the 1990’s when that started changing. I think people feel that the Democrats turned their back on these voters, but I believe their policies are better for rural families.

Two very important issues that are being negatively affected by Republican policies are schools and healthcare. Funding cuts affect both of these issues in a similar way because without the funding rural schools and hospitals will close and leave these communities without those resources close by. Schools and healthcare are essential and should be reasonably convenient for everyone no matter where you live.

If rural hospitals close it will lead to longer drive times to get medical care, worse outcomes and more deaths. School closure and consolidation will also lead to longer drives for students, cause a loss of the sense of community and larger class sizes. There are not private schools around, so vouchers won’t help. The market alone may not support many rural hospitals and schools and that will hurt rural families and communities.

Time for change

We are ready to take on the establishment in Jefferson City and work on the behalf of the majority of Missourians for long term prosperity. This is bigger than the parties or specific policies, it is about bringing integrity and honesty back to government, getting the government under the control of the people and being able to trust that politicians have the best interests of the people they represent in mind. The constitution and the long term success of this state should be the top priorities, not enriching themselves and their corporate donors. More transparency and less corruption. More accountability and less secrecy. More prosperity and less scandals.

I am new to politics and am running as a democrat, but consider myself an independent. I know running as a democrat automatically puts me at a disadvantage in this area. I knew I couldn’t run as a republican with how Donald Trump has pushed everyone out of the party who isn’t a loyalist. It is very hard to run as an independent especially when you are brand new to the process. I wish we didn’t have a two party system that forced everyone into two boxes because I don’t think most people fit perfectly into either box. I consider myself an American first, not a member of a party.

I think most people are fed up with politicians and the system in general and feel like it’s not working for them. That is how I feel too, so instead of sitting back, complaining and waiting for someone else to make changes I decided I could try to be the change I wanted. Parties change over time and that change happens when people with new ideas and the courage to standup do speak up and challenge those in power. I believe everyone getting more involved and informed is how we will make this state and country more prosperous moving forward.

I am not funded by big money interests. I am not funded by Herzog. I don’t want to take money from anyone who wants to influence me and betray my integrity and principles. I canceled a fundraiser because the organizer pressured me to change things I said in a post and my policy positions that they disagreed with, I would rather not have that money and lose than take the money and sell out. I want to stay independent and make the best decisions for the most Missourians, not just the ones that can afford to buy political power.

Most people want the same things. We want good schools for our kids. We want to be able to afford groceries, housing and healthcare. We want honest leadership and transparent government. We want to feel like our voices matter again!

Policies I believe in:

- Adequately fund public education and hold schools to a high standard
- Stronger regulations on AI and hyperscale data centers
- Protect our privacy from the ever growing surveillance state
- Close loopholes on taxes for billionaires and the largest corporations
- Support small local businesses and family farms
- Capitalism with regulation
- Make healthcare more affordable and accessible
- Protect gun rights
- Get big money out of elections
- Ensure equality for everyone regardless of gender, race, religion, or sexual orientation
- End partisan gerrymandering
- Don’t let politicians trade stocks
- Increase mental health services
- Opposed to an open border
- Illegal immigrants who commit crimes should be deported
- Comprehensive immigration reform with path to citizenship
- Strengthen workers’ rights
- Keep church and state separate
- Trans athletes can have an unfair advantage in women’s sports
- Fraud and waste in government needs to be investigated and stopped to make sure our tax dollars are going where they should be
- Against never ending wars
- Invest more in renewable energy and nuclear power
- Keep government out of people’s personal lives
- Abortion should be legal with guardrails
- Grow the middle class
- Police should have the budget and training they need to keep this community safe, not be defunded
- Get the national debt under control

Some are more democratic and some more republican, but I don’t think most people fit into one of these two parties completely. This is not poll tested or along party lines. I’m open to learning more and changing my views, I don’t have all the answers. If you don’t agree with me on something we can still talk about the pros and cons of both sides. This is genuinely what I believe right now, you may not agree with everything but I’m being as upfront as I can and will do everything in my power to follow through with what I say and if for some reason I can’t I will be as transparent as possible to why not.

Let’s work together on what we agree on, not just fight about what we don’t. Compromise has to happen and we have to continue to move forward together even if we don’t all agree. There are a lot of very hard problems to solve and a lot of opinions, but coming up with creative solutions and working hard to achieve great things is possible here in America, more than anywhere else in the world.

If we don’t hold politicians and government accountable the distrust, partisanship and corruption will continue to grow and at some point people will give up on the political process altogether and look for other solutions. We have to believe our vote matters, that positive change is possible and that the government is of the people, by the people, for the people.
