SUPER SCOOPERS IN TOWN!
Two of these CL-415EAF "Super Scooper" aerial firefighting aircrafts are currently staying over at Drake Field in Fayetteville, after arriving today from Idaho. A representative shared they were not specifically sent for the Southern Arkansas Bunker Fire, a 2,800 acre wildfire that has been mostly contained, but were sent to the area due to the increased activity in the state.
These Bridger Aerospace CL-415EAF Super Scoopers, tail numbers N418BT and N419BT, were built in 1985 and 1986 respectively, and are 2 of 8 that Bridger Aerospace operates, among other fixed wing aircraft to respond to and provide support for wildfire suppression throughout North America. The representative shared that, flying at 100 mph, this plane can skim a body of water and collect 1,400 gallons of water in just under 10 seconds, with a fly-time of 4-6 hours. And at 29 feet tall, with a wingspan of over 94 feet, they're big!
Aircraft like this are more commonly found in northern states, so it was a cool opportunity to photograph them locally. Thanks to the Bridger Aerospace representative for taking the time to share this info about these unique and important aircraft.
