Students in Mrs. Corley's fourth grade class put their math skills to the test during an exciting Friday Math Challenge: Unit 2 Math Mission! Students worked in teams as they rotated through six interactive math stations designed to review and strengthen their understanding of factors, multiples, prime and composite numbers, number patterns, input/output tables, and data analysis.
Each station presented a unique challenge! Students cracked secret math codes, solved mystery number clues, created number and shape patterns, rolled dice to investigate factors, discovered rules in input/output machines, and became data detectives by analyzing information. As teams successfully completed each station, they earned letters that spelled a secret mathematical word: FACTOR!
The excitement continued with the Final Boss Challenge, where students used their critical-thinking and problem-solving skills to solve one final mystery. The activities also provided a sneak peek into our upcoming multiplication unit through an exploration of arrays and equal groups.
Beyond practicing important fourth-grade math standards, students strengthened their communication, collaboration, and perseverance. This hands-on learning experience was a wonderful reminder that math is more than numbersโit's about thinking, problem-solving, and working together to achieve a goal!
Way to go, fourth-grade mathematicians!
