October Fire Safety Month is in full swing!

Higbee and Ash are helping to spread important fire safety messages to students across Fayetteville.

Alongside our Fire Marshal’s Office and firefighters, they’re teaching students important lessons about staying safe at home and what to do in an emergency, including:

🧯 Fire safety in the home
🚪 How to check doors before opening them
⬇️ Why it’s important to stay low if there’s smoke
🛑 Stop, Drop & Roll
📍 Having an outside meeting place

A big paws up to Higbee and Ash for helping lead the charge!

Congratulations to Lieutenant Jacob Brimer of the El Dorado Fire Department who finished his way through Fayetteville as part of the Camp Sunshine Arkansas Challenge! Jacob is running across Arkansas to raise awareness and funds for Camp Sunshine, a free camp for pediatric burn survivors.

We were honored to welcome Jacob to Fayetteville Fire Station 1 and proud to have Fayetteville firefighters join him for the run through our community. Along the way, some recruits from the NWA Training Academy joined the run halfway through, adding even more support to Jacob’s incredible journey.

Keep running, Jacob! Fayetteville is cheering you on!

Happy National Fire Pup Day!

We’re celebrating four very special members of the Fayetteville Fire Department family Ash, Higbee, Philli, and Riggs.

Our fire education Dalmatians have a busy October ahead as they join our crews for Fire Safety Month, visiting local schools and helping teach students important fire safety skills.

From learning to Stop, Drop and Roll, to crawling low under smoke and checking doors for heat before opening them, our pups help make learning about fire safety fun and memorable!

The Fayetteville Fire Department recently conducted company burn training with our mutual aid partners, Goshen Arkansas Fire District, Farmington Arkansas Fire Department, Elkins Arkansas Volunteer Fire Department, West Fork Arkansas Fire Department and Johnson Fire Department and Central EMS.

These hands-on training allow firefighters to work in realistic fire conditions, sharpen their skills, and strengthen coordination with the agencies we work alongside on emergency calls.

From fire suppression and search operations to patient care and scene coordination, training together helps ensure we're prepared to work as one team when our community needs us most.

A big thank-you to our mutual aid partners and Central EMS for joining us and continuing to train with the Fayetteville Fire Department.

The Fayetteville Fire Department joins our community in mourning the loss of Woodland Junior High students Savannah Parker and Olivia Pamungkas.

Last night, the lights of Razorback Stadium was lit up pink in honor of Savannah and Olivia, a beautiful reminder that our community is standing together to remember two young lives and support their families, friends, classmates and teachers.

May the pink lights and ribbons across town serve as a symbol of love, remembrance and the strength of a community coming together during a heartbreaking time.

A big thank-you to the University of Arkansas for inviting the Fayetteville Fire Department to participate in the Safety Fair at the Student Union!

We enjoyed meeting so many students and staff who stopped by to learn more about fire extinguisher safety and try out our fire extinguisher simulator.

Remember the acronym PASS when using a fire extinguisher:

-Pull the pin
-Aim at the base of the fire
-Squeeze the handle
-Sweep from side to side

Thanks to everyone who stopped by to learn, ask questions and practice an important fire-safety skill!
