❀️ HIV Has No Age Limit.

Today, on National HIV/AIDS and Aging Awareness Day, we recognize the growing number of older adults living long, healthy lives with HIVβ€”and remind our community that HIV prevention, testing, treatment, and conversations about sexual health matter at every age.

Growing older doesn’t mean aging out of HIV awareness. Knowing your status, staying connected to care, and having open conversations with healthcare providers are important parts of protecting your health.

✨ Get tested. Know your status. Stay connected to care.
✨ Living with HIV? Treatment worksβ€”and healthy aging is possible.
✨ Prevention has no age limit.

The Cumberland County HIV Task Force remains committed to reducing stigma, increasing awareness, and connecting our community with HIV prevention, testing, treatment, and support resources.

❀️ Because HIV awareness matters at every stage of life.

Saturday is National HIV Testing Day.
National HIV Testing Day (NHTD) was first observed on June 27, 1995. This is a day to encourage people to get tested for HIV, know their status, and get linked to care and treatment.

Knowing your HIV status helps you choose options to stay healthy.

HIV testing is the pathway to engaging people in care to keep them healthy, regardless of their test result. People who receive a negative test result can take advantage of HIV prevention tools such as pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP), condoms, and other sexual health services such as vaccines and testing for sexually transmitted infections. People who receive a positive test result can rapidly start HIV treatment (antiretroviral therapy, or ART) to stay healthy.
