🌭 A BIG THANK YOU to Smithfield Foods! 🌭

Last week, The Capitol Encore Academy hosted our Teachers vs. Students Kickball Fundraiser, and what a game it was! Our staff managed to pull off a victory… but JUST barely!

A huge thank you to Smithfield Foods for generously providing hot dogs for the event! We especially want to recognize Andrea Tucker, Tar Heel General Manager, and April Johnson, Tar Heel Distribution Center Inventory Control Manager, for helping make this donation possible.

We are so grateful for community partners who show up for our students, staff, and school community. Your generosity helped make a fun afternoon even better.

Thank you for supporting The Capitol Encore Academy!

Creativity meets community!

Students in The Capitol Encore Academy’s film class, taught by Mr. Brian of Cameo Collective, put their creativity to work by creating commercials and one group chose to feature our neighbor, Rude Awakening! ☕️

What a wonderful way to explore filmmaking while celebrating a local business that’s part of our downtown community. We’re proud of these young filmmakers and excited to share their work!

At the Cameo, it’s about more than movies, it’s about inspiring the next generation of storytellers and community leaders.

A big THANK YOU to Fit4Life Gillis Hill for their generous donation of school supplies to The Capitol Encore Academy!

Community partners make a real difference for our students and teachers, and we are so grateful when our community supports our school. These supplies will go directly into our classrooms and help ensure our students have the tools they need to learn, create, and succeed.

Thank you, for investing in our students and our school community! 💙

Big news from The Capitol Encore Academy! Our campus is now powered in part by solar energy, made possible through NC GreenPower’s Solar+ Schools program, with installation by NC Solar Now. This partnership doesn’t just cut our energy costs, it gives our students a hands on connection to renewable energy and STEM learning. Grateful to be part of a growing number of solar powered schools across North Carolina.

TCEA is proud to announce that after years of steady growth, we have officially moved from a D to a C school.

This progress reflects the dedication of our staff, students, and families, and we're grateful for the work everyone has put in to get us here. We've continued to build strong teaching teams in the 2026-2027 school year, and we're feeling energized about the growth still ahead of us.

A letter grade only tells part of the story. North Carolina's school grades weight proficiency far more heavily than growth, so a jump like this represents real, sustained gains in the classroom, gains that often show up before the grade itself catches up. We're proud of how far we've come and even more excited about where we're headed.
