Thank you to all of our students and families who joined us for Open House at Vista last night! It was wonderful seeing everyone connect with our staff, explore classrooms, and celebrate the start of a great year. We’re grateful to be part of such an amazing community.
In addition, we are sharing our September "Students of the Month" - these students have exemplified what it means to SAIL at Vista...they are Safe, Accountable, Inclusive, and Leaders! Teachers have nominated these students as leaders in their classrooms and at our school! Keep representing Vista well!

Wednesday was a nice day for Viking athletics. Our softball team put together an impressive 15–0 victory over Blaine, showing great teamwork and energy, from start to finish. Elsewhere, our cross country team competed in its final home meet of the season at beautiful Hovander Homestead Park and our boys' soccer team put forth a strong effort but came up short vs. Mount Baker. We’re proud of the effort, determination and sportsmanship of our fall athletes. Soccer's next home game is Tuesday vs. Blaine; Cross country's final meet will be Wednesday at Lynden Christian; our football team plays today at Nooksack Valley. Go Vikes!

A big hy'sxwqe (thank you) to the students in Mr. Walker and Mrs. Entz’s advisory class for organizing a schoolwide video and display to help bring awareness to Orange Shirt Day. Orange Shirt Day acknowledges and remembers the experiences of Indigenous children who were sent to residential schools and remembers those who never returned home. It's a day to recognize the lasting impacts of residential schools and reaffirm the message that Every Child Matters.

The joint Vista/Horizon football team was in action yesterday, at Horizon, vs Mount Baker. They'll be back at next week. Also, next week, softball and boys' soccer have home games, and our cross-country team is away. Vista's proud of the hard work and effort our fall athletes and coaches are putting in. Please join us in celebrating our amazing registrar, Hilleary Sorenson, as Vista’s September Champion Educator! Hilleary, alongside Ms. Helt, put in an incredible amount of time this summer to create a master schedule and class mix that best meets the needs of our students and building. It was truly a site to behold! We're grateful for Hilleary’s dedication, problem-solving and commitment to making Vista the best it can be. Thank you, Hilleary!
