Today, members of the Ferrisburgh Fire Department joined members of the Vergennes Area Rescue Squad (VARS) for joint vehicle extrication training.

This hands-on training allowed our firefighters to practice patient care during extrication operations while giving newer members valuable experience using our extrication tools, equipment, and techniques.

VARS members also had the opportunity to experience extrication from the patient’s perspective by being inside the vehicle as windows, doors, and the roof were removed. This provided valuable insight into what patients may experience during these operations and reinforced the importance of communication, coordination, and patient comfort throughout the process.

Joint training like this builds teamwork, strengthens relationships between our agencies, and helps ensure we can work together effectively to provide the best possible patient care and safety during stressful emergency situations.

A big thank-you to VARS for taking time out of your weekend to train alongside us! We appreciate your continued partnership and commitment to serving our communities.

Fire Alarm Activation

At 2:50 AM this morning, Engine 1 and Tanker 1 responded to an alarm off Gross Point.

Upon arrival, the Engine 1 crew gained access to the structure and checked for CO₂ or other potential causes of the alarm. After confirming the building was clear, the crew reset the alarm.

Meanwhile, Tanker 1’s crew established a water supply to wet-nurse Engine 1 if needed.

Great job by our team demonstrating professionalism, teamwork, and dedication, even on a routine call in the early morning hours. Every call matters, and our members remain ready to serve and protect our community

Today, we recognize the men and women who continue to answer the call, never knowing what the next alarm may bring.

We remember the brothers and sisters who came before us and made the ultimate sacrifice.

We train today to protect tomorrow.

We honor their sacrifice.
We carry on their legacy.
We never forget.

Tonight, we were honored to officially vote former cadet Kyle Clark in as a full member of the Ferrisburgh Volunteer Fire Department after recently turning 18!

Kyle has already completed our Firefighter I course and has demonstrated the skills, dedication, and determination needed to become an amazing firefighter.

Now that Kyle is officially a full member, he will be able to join our members on interior fire attacks and continue gaining valuable experience alongside his fellow firefighters.

We are excited to have Kyle join our adult membership and look forward to watching him continue to grow within the department.

Congratulations, Kyle, and welcome aboard!
