🔥 October Safety Tip — Heating Season Is Here!

The temperatures are dropping, and that means furnaces, fireplaces, wood stoves, pellet stoves, and space heaters are coming back to life! Before settling in for a cozy night, take a few minutes to make sure your home is ready.

🔥 Have chimneys, fireplaces, wood and pellet stoves cleaned and inspected.
🔥 Keep anything that can burn at least 3 feet away from heating equipment.
🔥 Test your smoke and carbon monoxide alarms.
🔥 Plug space heaters directly into a wall outlet and turn them off when you leave the room or go to bed.
🔥 Never leave a fire unattended.

A warm house is great. A visit from the fire department because your house is too warm isn't! 😉🚒

Stay warm. Stay safe.

Thanks to those who came to our movie night we look forward to seeing everyone next Saturday at the safety fair

🔥 SEPTEMBER SAFETY TIP: GIVE YOUR POWER STRIPS A BREAK! 🔌

As cooler weather arrives, we start plugging in more—heaters, lamps, chargers, appliances and all those things that make home a little more comfortable.

But an overloaded outlet or power strip can quickly become a fire hazard.

⚡ Never plug one power strip into another.
🔥 Space heaters and other high-wattage appliances should be plugged directly into a wall outlet.
🔌 Replace cords that are cracked, frayed or damaged.
🚫 Don’t run extension cords under rugs, furniture or through doorways.
👀 If an outlet or plug feels unusually warm, smells like it’s burning, sparks or is discolored—stop using it.
🏠 Extension cords are meant for temporary use, not permanent household wiring.

Take a few minutes this week to look around your home. That tangle of cords hiding behind the couch might deserve a little attention!

Small safety checks can prevent big emergencies. ❤️
