Students in Dr. Maddux's AP Biology class were using new microscopes that he got through a grant from the Festus R-VI School Foundation. The Foundation funded the purchase of four microscopes, to go along with a few others the District purchased to enable more students to get more time using the instruments.

Today, they were investigating phagocytosis (cell eating) rates in tetrahymena, a protist, to prepare to design their own investigations later this week.

Our Festus R-VI Citizens Academy is proving to be a great success. A number of community members who signed up to be part of our first academy are getting an in-depth look at the operations of our District. Last night's second session of the academy took a deep dive into our maintenance and technology departments. They also got a tour of the Intermediate School where they met for the evening.
