🚒🔥 An Exciting Week of Fire Prevention! 🔥🚒

What an exciting week of fire safety education!

The Jefferson R-7 Fire Protection District has had a great time visiting with students throughout the Jefferson R-7 School District in celebration of Fire Prevention Week 2026!
Our firefighters have been busy teaching students important fire safety lessons, including smoke alarm awareness, home fire escape planning, and what to do in the event of a fire. 🚨🏠

We love having the opportunity to interact with our younger community members, answer their questions, and help them develop fire safety habits that can last a lifetime!

A huge THANK YOU to the Jefferson R-7 School District, teachers, staff, and students for welcoming us and making this week such a success!

Fire safety starts with education, and even our youngest residents can make a big difference!

🔥 FIRE PREVENTION WEEK 2026 🔥

This week, members of the Jefferson R-7 Fire Protection District are proud to provide fire prevention and life-safety education to students throughout the Jefferson R-7 School District.

This year’s Fire Prevention Week theme is:

⚡ “Charge into Fire Safety: Safe Charging is a Superpower” ⚡

With phones, tablets, laptops, power tools, e-bikes, and other rechargeable devices becoming part of everyday life, it’s important for everyone—especially our kids—to understand how to safely use and charge devices powered by lithium-ion batteries.

Throughout the week, our firefighters will be visiting with students to talk about fire safety, safe charging practices, smoke alarms, home escape planning, and what to do in an emergency.

Fire prevention starts with education, and we appreciate the opportunity to spend time with our local students and help build a safer community.

4️⃣ DAYS OF NONSTOP HEAT 🥵

🔥 Heat index values are forecast to reach 100-109 degrees for portions of the area each afternoon today through Wednesday.

‼️ The greatest confidence in dangerous heat exists between the I-70 and I-44 corridors, where an Extreme Heat Warning is now in effect.

🥵 Uncertainty surrounds exactly how hot/humid it will be, but the worst conditions will exist in metropolitan areas where urban heat island effects are strongest.
